OP posts:
MrsWeasley · 06/07/2007 13:06

She cried because it was finished not because of "the ending"

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 06/07/2007 13:27

Thank you MrsWeasley. They're from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes...

PhoenixSongbird · 06/07/2007 16:49

"When I finished one chapter near the end I absolutely howled."

This means that something very sad happens near the end of the book, oooooooohhhhhhh, I need to know!!!!!!

persephonesnape · 06/07/2007 16:52

Maybe she brings sirius back... only to kill him off again...

(sorry, i know how the Ladies feel awful when sirius goes through the veil in ootp. couldn't resist. it's the snape in me... )

MrsWeasley · 06/07/2007 18:19

oh thank you Annie, I did get some funny looks at a school event this afternoon. Made a nice change though!

perhaps I should stick to hob nobs in future!

kate100 · 06/07/2007 19:20

Have set the Sky+ for Jonothan Ross tonight as I'm too tired to stay up.

I finished all the books on holiday, so this week DH and I have watched all of the films on DVD. Goblet of Fire tonight, but snuggled up in bed as I feel very sleepy.

I agree that Sirius is not right in the films, he's not cool enough. DH tells me that JKR had Ian Brown in her mind when she was writing Sirius (he's a big Stone Roses fan) and he fits the image in my mind much better, I guess that's why he has a cameo role in POA.

I hadn't thought about the veil room being the one on the cover of the American version, but it does fit with the description in OOTP, you're all so much more observant than me

tigerschick · 06/07/2007 20:18

Just realised that I'm not going to be able to watch Jonathan Ross tonight as I have to be up at 3.00 to take a friend to the airport!!! So, please watch it carefully and if there is anything significant that is not in that article, please, please, please let me know. Thank you

Just read where they take their exams in OotP. I have to say that I'm enjoying it more this time than I have before. I'm finding the humour more easily this time ... but it's getting ever closer to "that" chapter ...

TransfiguratingLily · 07/07/2007 08:21

So she says two main characters die but not only two deaths...a bloodbath!
I am starting to think Harry might die or lose his powers forever from what she said about Harry's story clerly being at an end.

TransfiguratingLily · 07/07/2007 08:22

oops, clearly

dewmeadow · 07/07/2007 08:31

She said that Harry's story had come to a definite end!!!! But she may one day write about that world again!!

methinks Harry's curtains and I bet that chapter she cried and cried over was his last.

How could Jonathan Ross NOT cry over Dumbledore? Ive never liked him.

dewmeadow · 07/07/2007 08:32

hiya lily!

LazyLine · 07/07/2007 08:38

I have thought before that Harry might lose his magic instead of being killed off. Could imagine him and Ginny going to live in the Muggle world and living a quiet life away from the hero worship.

Although I still think he could lose his eyes, morbid though it is

persephonesnape · 07/07/2007 08:45

more than two !!!???

hmmm. a Weasley (not won-won.!) Lupin ...Bella is obviously toast. I can see Snape kicking it - but saving Harry...

MrsWeasley · 07/07/2007 08:49

I must say I am a little on edge after watching her interview.

A bloodbath: well I have consolled myself that in HBP the fight was considered a bloodbath but Harry and co did well out of that.(except bill)
Hopefully ginny will remind them they did so well after taking liquid lucky and they will get fresh supplies of this!

I never really liked Bob Hoskins before but I liked him last night. He's a jolly chap and a HP fan, he must be good Can really see him as a jolly wizard type.

Film out on THURSDAY
Book sooooooooooo near now it HURTSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I'm in bits between wanting, no needing, to read the next bit but not wanting to if its bad for my favourites.

I was concerned at the Harry's story comes to an end bit but she always said even in the early stages it was a book about Harry's school days and that was set from before the first book was written and she likes to stick to her plans in that respect. Harry's story will end because he will defeat the evil one or because he is no longer magic or just because its only ever been a series about a boy and harry will now be a man!

Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die. Harry will NOT die.

persephonesnape · 07/07/2007 09:57

I do want Neville to be the chosen one! i want everyone to be wrong!

the room of requirement clip on rossy last night was lovely. all those patronuseseses ( patroni?) darting and scampering and galloping around - it was a delight to see Hermiones otter and Luna looks fabulous - just dreamy, but with an air of self assurance and maturity... she doesn't care about the name calling, because she absolutely believes in her mind-set.

PhoenixSongbird · 07/07/2007 09:58

Ian Brown as Sirius? You HAVE to be joking. Much as I adore the Stone Roses, runty little monkey-face Brown just is not Sirius. Sirius is supposed to be very handsome. I really like (and fancy) Gary Oldman, but I pictured Sirius as being more conventionally handsome.

Ian Brown indeed [mutter mutter chunter chunter]

PhoenixSongbird · 07/07/2007 10:04

I didn't watch Wossy as I was too knackered, if she'd been on first I'd have watched her, but they obviously wanted to save her till last, didn't they. Anyhoo, I watched the intro bit where they show them in the green room, and she looked awful. Really thin and quite old, maybe book 7 has been really stressful .

By the way, DD for Dumbledore and Dear Daughter is confusing enough, wait till we start talking about Deathly Hallows, DH!!

I can imagine Harry ending up a bit like Frodo, alive but irrevocably (sp?) damaged by the final showdown. I think he'll defeat V but will lose some or all of his powers (and his scar). Oh, he has to live happily ever after with Ginny

persephonesnape · 07/07/2007 10:07

incidentally - why are there no working mothers in the wizarding world? Molly is a SAHM...We don't know if Lily kept on doing whatever she did before Harry was born ( although at a year old, when she died she could have still been on extended maternity leave...) Narcissa probably does a little bit of charity work...I always think the wizarding community is a little victorian in it's outlook...would single parenthood be frowned upon? mixed marriages can be in some quarters ( Andromeda Tonks springs to mind...) any thoughts?

PhoenixSongbird · 07/07/2007 10:12

To be fair, we haven't met many mothers have we? Imagine paying for childcare for all those Weasleys!!

Aunt Flo is visiting the Songbird house this week, and this morning as I was 'attending to my needs' I started wondering about what witches do when their monthly visitor arrives, I bet there's super dooper sanitary products and pain relief out there in Diagon Alley Boots!

Oh, just thought of summat else that's been bugging me - what's the difference between a wizard and a warlock? [not a joke!]

I knew that this would be in active conversations

Harry will not die and my theory for this is as follows, there is going to be an epilogue for the series, well what woud be the point if the main character was dead? Therefore Harry will live and we will get to find out how he sees out his days. At least I hope that's what happens.

My new ideas for who dies are, Voldemort as evil must be defeated as that's the whole point of the series, Snape saving Harry, Bella because she's too foul to live, Luna as she understands about death, knows it's not the end and will give herself up, Molly and Arthur because someone good had to die and Hagrid although I don't know how as all of the curses usually bounce off him, maybe McGonagall and Sprout so Neville can become Professor Longbottom(I like how it sounds)

I am wondering what will happen to all of the couples that JKR has brought together(Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione, Bill and Fleur, Hagrid and Madam Maxime, Lupin and Tonks) they can't all have a sad ending can they or everyone would be miserable, so some of these pairs have got to make it to the end. My hope is for Harry and Ginny, JKR has planned for them to be together from the start so surely they must make it to the end? Please......

tigerschick · 07/07/2007 11:26

Oooh I wish I had watched it last night!!!

I guess the question about who dies depends on what JKR classes as a 'main character'. Would Luna, Mr and Mrs Weasley, Lupin, McGonagall etc be classed as "main"???

BecklePhoenixBird · 07/07/2007 11:30

I agree with TMMJ, after what JKR said last night, I think Harry may be toast.

However, JKR did not say that 2 main characters would die, she said that 2 characters she had originally intended would live were now going to die. I take that to mean that a few main characters are not going to make it...
