Didn't she hang out with Angela Carter?

No not read it, but i'm sure i've read about it.

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 13:39

Oooh yes. Red lipstick and deep rolling laughter, jazz records and gardening.

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 13:39

Who Lorna Sage hang about with Carter? Most certainly. Leading academic light on Ms Carter.

Boco · 06/06/2007 13:44

If i could time travel i'd hang out with Lee Miller and her chums at Farley Farm.

Her pictures make me long to have tea parties with picasso and Man Ray and Eileen Agar. I've got a one of her photos of a topless picnic, they're all laughing heartily and looking dashingly bohemian.

It's not fair. A topless picnic now would just be silly.

BishyBarneyBee · 06/06/2007 14:16

have you read angela carter nights at the circus - have that on pile.

Unless was top.

DDM was not a lesbain according to nob-end Rick Stein.

Boco · 06/06/2007 14:25

She was def bisexual - i'm sure it was gertrude lawrence she was sleeping with. How would rick stein know?

Boco · 06/06/2007 14:26

Yes, read nights at the circus - but it was years ago during my adolescent Angela Carter phase.

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 14:29

Sooo lesbian in every way. I always rather fancied hanging with those fascist Bloomsbury crowd, being mean and slightly suicidal in the Sitwell's rose garden.

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 14:32

Have looked this up on Wikipaedia. Not only did Du Maurier and Gertrude have an affair, but Gertrude also had affair with Du Maurier's father.
Goodness. They'd be good to have the topless picnic I should think.

Boco · 06/06/2007 14:36

With Gerry Springer leaping from behind a bush.

Boco · 06/06/2007 14:45

Those Bloomsberries were all totally bisexual, it was compulsary. I'd love to hang out with them - not in a bi-curious way, or a particularly mean and fascist and suicidal way, just in a glamorous clique.

BishyBarneyBee · 06/06/2007 14:45

shows what rick stein knows.

Am cribbing from a letter in the radio times about a programme rick stein did.

BishyBarneyBee · 06/06/2007 14:46

love the glam of them too - and the sheer artistic air of authority.

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 15:12

lol @ jerry springer.
They were a miserable bunch though weren't they? I reckon Edith Sitwell would have frightened us. Who cares. I'd have loved it. I'd have been bitter and slightly pinched. Caustic.

Boco · 06/06/2007 15:19

This is me giving you a slightly pinched glance, before getting on with some frightfully important bisexuality followed by gardening and a poem.

Enid · 06/06/2007 15:43

Boco yuo dont want to hang out with the Bloomsbury group

you want the mitfords

mannish cropped hair, fag holders, champagne in proper champagne coupes, brittle laughter, open topped bentleys, screamingly funny gay friends, dogs everywhere

etc

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 16:03

Yes would be better for you with the picnic thing I think, and you can always hang with the fascist one if she looks most fun. I'm still orf to Garsington though, all that champagne and Bentley stuff doesn't quite suit. I'm drifting about the rose garden with Keynes, wearing sensible suit.

Boco · 06/06/2007 16:20

I'm not sure about the whole fascist thing though. And the bloomsbury set were pasifists which i quite like.

Maybe i'll just stick to farley farm and the topless picnics.

Okay, Enid with the Mitfords, Boco with Man Ray on the farm and me with the Bloomsbury's. We're going to be very busy. Will be lots of talking.

bundle · 06/06/2007 16:29

i read love in a cold climate, it was pretty good. think bakedpotato liked the biog. or was it marina?
have half a yellow sun at home and a trashy american crime one...guess which one i'll go for next??

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 16:39

Yes, I read biog. We need Enid to read it.

Boco · 06/06/2007 17:04

Who would you be Enid, Diana the fascist, Decca the communist, Unity the Nazi, Debo the duchess, Nancy the novelist or rural Pam?

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 17:07

Nooo, she is bisexual friend of them all. Flits from apartment to apartment, via crumbling Italian farm house to stately home to drunken weekends in London. Will be good for her to have Bentley on hand, and chauffeur, what with the champagne and all.

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2007 17:19
