So, come on then, how was it?
I've been thinking of you all week. Mostly enviously ..., but also - cheekily - when it was raining heavily. Was it Sunday or Monday?

Spill the beans. Full review please MrsWho and RosaLuxembourg. Did anyone else go?

MrsWho · 02/06/2007 21:17

JUST got back!

We saw Mari Heddwick- fab, kids ;oved her

Lauren Child- quite boring talk not really aimed at kids dd1 was bored stiff

Martin Brown -Fantastic, was bouncing around, drawing and doing loadsof drawings

Charlie and Lola puppet show (was it a MNer next to me? little girl had C&L t-shirt , and she had a baby on her knee)

Quentin Blake-Great, just wish we could have stayed longer to get dds books signed

Oh yes it was fab. looked out for you at horrible histories Mrs Who but the queue was ENORMOUS. I had no idea it had become such a big event.
We saw: Anne Fine. Really outspoken and a bit boastful but very, very funny and original.
Michael Morpurgo. Absolutely lovely. Big boomy posh voice which I hadn't expected and he was wearing red trousers and green wellies.
Jill Murphy. Shy but full of terrific anecdotes about her childhood. She showed us some lovely little books she had made as a young child which the children loved and passed galley proofs of her next Worst Witch book round for people to have a look.
Caroline Lawrence. She dressed as a Roman lady for the talk and showed the children exactly how to use a sponge stick! She gave a slide show of her recent cruise down the Nile which was research for her next book so that they can spot what she has used when they read it.
Emma Chichester Clark. Bit of a yawn for the over fives but DD3 loved it.
It was a really fantastic experience. DH got to see Iain Banks and Terry Eagleton too and I saw Roy Hattersley and Sandra Howard and Barbara Erskine (not great tbh).

MrsWho · 02/06/2007 22:00

We were about the corner of the queue but looked out when we got in but couldn't see you!

You should have seen the queue for Quentin Blake!

The Barclays tent was full!

We would have loved to have seen Quentin Blake. All the same it was nice to sleep in a bed last night after two nights in a wet field.

MrsWho · 03/06/2007 11:59

We are talking about going next yea, if dd2 is better behaved we may stay in a tent but atm she would disappear in the middle of the night

Didn't know it was on Sky though, just seen an ad

wew ewnt on tues - saw the children's stand up comedian - james someone - fab fab and I enjoyd it too. Went to the free fairy thing for DD and she go loads of freeebeies.

That tent thing for children was weird - good weird but still weird.

Felt a bit as recalled my child free days hopping from talk to talk, but was a lot smaller then - is like a little town now.

Great atmosphere though.

Thought there must be msnetters there but how to spot them?

Sure I was talking to one outside the weird tent thing. I wa all in black with black bob. Tried to put out a mumsnet aura.

RosaLuxembourg · 08/06/2007 12:24

Wasn't me cos I didn't get there till Wed. I was easy to spot with red hair, bright green mac and green flowery wellies but next time I will wear a mumsnet tshirt to be on safe side. If MrsWho and I had been wearing those we might have met!

BishyBarneyBee · 08/06/2007 12:30

was so fun - dc's enjoyed it more than I thought.

Are doing Edingburgh too.

MrsWho · 08/06/2007 19:06

I def didn't see Rosa (nooone with red hair really)

Don't suppose you remember what time at the weird tent?you actually sound familiar (don't think I spoke to anyone like that but there was someone inside the kids tent)We left about 1-2 ish on Tuesday.

BishyBarneyBee · 08/06/2007 19:20

oooh - we would have been at weird tent thing at about 11ish then we went to stand up comedy thing and then we went to fairy thing in children's non-weird tent at 2pm.

I was with my mum as well and I had two children - one boy with long hair aged 7.

RosaLuxembourg · 08/06/2007 19:22

DD3 loved the wierd tent - I liked the two elderly acTOR types who were supervising it

BishyBarneyBee · 08/06/2007 19:24

so did I.

ds and dd came out and I said what's in there and they sdaid some crazy men - they asked me what was NOT my name.

haha

MrsWho · 08/06/2007 19:41

We were hanging around for the fairy thing then it was put back a couple of time so gave up and went. Were you there for the story tellerin the long coat (think that was Tuesday)

Hi I went too. Just for the last weekend, I absolutely loved it and thought it must be full of Mners!
We saw Monty Don, Sarah Raven, Alex James; everyone was interesting and the atmosphere was fab.
Did you go up to Hay? we had lovely food in the Granary and I fell in love with LLewellyn and Co and the Green Room shops.
I'm still a bit moony about it because I had no responsibilities for all that weekend and that was a joy!
By the way, all the children I saw seemed really happy and well-behaved!

MrsWho · 08/06/2007 23:08

You must have missed us them Earthy , dd1 screamed for an hour because I said she had to drink [rollseyes] we spent a lot of time shopping in Hay but didn't get i any cafes
