No particular genre (though not a sci-fi fan). I really liked The Little Stranger if that helps but hated Gone Girl (no likeable characters, too far fetched) and didn’t believe Apple Tree Yard right from the off when she just went off and shagged him within 30 seconds of meeting.... Also can’t deal with stories where horrid things happen to children!

A children's book but I liked Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz

ILoveDolly · 18/01/2018 23:29

This kind of is Sci Fi but it has a great twist: Here and There by Joshua Scher

Yourownworstenemy · 18/01/2018 23:48

Jeffery weaver books are good for twist, crime/thriller

Also dark places is a good book, by the same author as gone girl but a million times better in my opinion

Yourownworstenemy · 18/01/2018 23:48

That should be Jeffery deaver sorry

EvilCleverDog · 18/01/2018 23:50

Have you read any Harlan Coben?

ButterfliesandMoths · 19/01/2018 00:20

Gone but not forgotten
Phillip Margolin

The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances. A real twisty turny book that was easy to read and had me hooked in straight away, which is rare.

southeastdweller · 19/01/2018 09:15

Have you read Fingersmith?

ScribblyGum · 19/01/2018 10:36

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie.

AFistfulOfDolores · 19/01/2018 10:40

"Atonement" by Ian McEwan

Plexie · 19/01/2018 10:44

Atonement by Ian McEwan. Not that I like the book - the ending makes me annoyed and most of the time I wanted to slap Briony.

Second 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd'. But if you read it knowing there's a twist you won't get the element of surprise!

Bobbiepin · 19/01/2018 10:50

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. Or anything by her really, she's an exceptional author. I would second Jeffrey Deaver too, but do the series in order, first book is the bone collecter.

Chocachoo · 19/01/2018 10:53

Another vote for Jeffery Deaver and Harlan Coben! Gripping and always twisty!!!

DownHereInTheHorridHouse · 19/01/2018 10:54

Agree with 'Fingersmith' - even after you read it for the first time, you can still enjoy it on subsequent reads as 'knowing' makes it even better. Fabulous book.

Totally disagree on Jodi Picoult though - writing by numbers.

'We are all completely beside ourselves' is another option.

Killerqueen2244 · 19/01/2018 10:55

The secret keeper by Kate Morton- it’s a long book and it takes a bit of time to get warmed up but is worth it and had a fantastic twist I didn’t see coming!

Kat70 · 19/01/2018 11:08

The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult. Fantastic book - what a twist! She's a great writer.

Whitney168 · 19/01/2018 11:10

'We Need To Talk About Kevin' by Lionel Shriver

TellerTuesday4EVA · 19/01/2018 11:15

I thought 'Between you and me' was brilliant, great twist but reading reviews a lot of others saw it coming I certainly didn't

SatsukiKusakabe · 19/01/2018 13:14

We are All Completely Beside Ourselves

essietopcoat · 19/01/2018 13:19

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

secondhoneymoon · 19/01/2018 13:20

My sister's keeper - different ending to the film if i remember rightly

Soubriquet · 19/01/2018 13:26

A court of thorns and roses by Sarah J Maas.

Totally unputdownable

Loved it

ExConstance · 19/01/2018 13:31

The Magpie Murders by Anthony Howowitz , quite the most ingenious and unusual plot I've ever come across, satisfyingly long, giving 3 days of cant-put-it-down pleasure.

SnakesandKnives · 19/01/2018 13:34

A Traitor to Memory - Elizabeth George. Absolutely brilliant
The veteran - short story by Frederick Forsyth.

AmethystRaven · 19/01/2018 13:40

Leaving Time is another twisty Picoult I enjoyed.
