2018 Reading Group - January: North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell - *Spoilers from 25 January*

Hi, lots of interest on a different thread for starting a 2018 MN reading group.
Aim is to read one book a month, finishing by 25th of each month then discussing and selecting the next month's book.
For January we have gone for North and South by Elisabeth Gaskell.
So this thread is for those who want to join in, all are welcome

I’m in. Downloaded north and south just after Christmas after seeing it recommended here.

Ooh I want to try to do this, I’m pregnant and have a 3 year old and I’ve barely read anything for years. I read North and South when I was a teenager so would love to read it again. I am having some v early nights so I should be able to fit some reading in! I wonder if I have a copy somewhere still... if not I’ll get it on Kindle.

I realised that in my excitement and sleep deprived haze last night I announced on the man book club thread that the 2017 reading group was open. Of course it will be 2018. Not a detail person me.

It's a new group. We don't "know" each other so please join in if you are lurking and say hello. Hopefully we'll be keen but laid back so if you don't finish or start a month's book just pick up where you can.

MN book club that is. A man book club might look a bit different.

The 49p kindle edition looks ok - I have scanned the first few pages and no obvious typos or errors. I'm not sure how to link to it, but it's the Kindle edition with a black header and footer on the front cover. Hope that helps!

i recently read N and S with my real life book club so will be checking in with interest

There is a free version on Kindle as well which I might go for even if there is a few grammar mistakes.

This is great! I have North and South on my list and I was planning on reading it very soon anyway. I'm definitely in.

I've downloaded the 49p version onto my kindle so I'll get started over the next day or so. I'm looking forward to getting back to reading and reading something different
