I'm going through a bit of a stressful time and just want some easy reads. I like most of Sophie kinsella books. Any others similar to hers?

Lindsey Kelk. 'I heart' series- read them in order though. Plus any of her other books

mistyweather · 21/12/2017 19:48

She writes under another name too - Madeline Wickam I think.

This might be a bit odd but I have been having a stressful time too and have a desire to reread books I read as a teen I won't name them!

Lisa jewell I love her books
Cecilia ahern - haven't read anything recent
Marian keyes
Dorothy koomson - the early ones
Sarah Addison Allen

Not sweet valley high misty?

Yes, Madeleine Wickham is Sophie Kinsella. I enjoyed those books.

I read Janet Evanovich for easy reading where you don’t have to think - the number series. Ridiculous and far fetched but a bit of fun.

Hmmalittlefishy · 21/12/2017 19:52

Jose Lloyd and Emlyn rees

I read a book when I was teen. I loved it. I think it was by India knight. Called why dont you love me?

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 21/12/2017 20:06

Madeleine Wickham is Sophie Kinsella’s real name. She wrote under Madeleine first and the books were not a great success then wrote the “Shopaholic” series that was quite different so she used a pen name.

Then the publishers re-published the Madeleine books as “SOPHIE KINSELLA writing as Madeleine Wickham”. I always think that must be really weird. She isn’t “writing” as Madeleine - she is Madeleine!

Anyway.... trivia aside.....

Cathy Kelly and Patricia Scanlon are nice easy reads.

magenta maybe! And babysitters club/Mallory Towers etc I haven't actually got any...I just want to as I think they would be comforting. Might not be the same as if I do get any. I am quite unwell so I feel it might be nice. I wonder if I could get them on ebay

Papergirl1968 · 22/12/2017 23:17

You can usually get Mallory Towers from the library, Misty - they’ve been republished.
I’m sure they’d be on amazon too.

Oh and for those suggesting alongside the lines of Mallory Towers - Jenny Colgan wrote some books called Rules and The Little School by the Sea under the pseudonym Jane Beaton. They're adult versions of boarding school dramas :)

Boynamedsue · 22/12/2017 23:29

@mistyweather I've been reading babysitters club from amazon kindle bookstore. If you don't have a kindle you can always get the app on your phone. I'm not ashamed, they take me back to my youth and make me smile!

Sorry to derail OP!

I went through a really bad time recently, I kept reading the brightest star in the sky, by Marian keys. It's a brilliant, uplifting book.

Cecelia ahern is great too.
