I’m reading The Words in My Hand by Guinevere Glusford.

Just wondered what everyone else has on the go and if you are enjoying it.

Like bettythebutterfly I'm also on a prizewinning books run this week.

I just finished 'Lincoln in the Bardo' by George Saunders. I was not so sure I'd like it, but it is surprisingly good and I really enjoyed reading it.

Next up: 'Never Let Me Go' by Ishiguro.

I have just finished Eleanor Oliphant is completely Fine by Gail Honeyman.
A quick and very easy to read book but with some substance. It made me laugh but had some terribly sad parts too.

Min loved that book!

Listening to Curtis Sittenfield's Eligible which is a modern take on Pride & Prejudice. Reading Commonwealth by Ann Patchett - enjoying it, but it seems quite short.

I've just finished 'A little life'. It was possibly the most depressing misery filled drivel I've ever read. And 800 odd pages 😩

Did you see Melody by Sophie Hannah

It's promising to scare me like the others did! But I like it!

I think A Little Life must be a love or hate book. I was in the love category.

The Ritual by Adam Neville, after seeing it recommended here. It's... ok. Not very well written though, implausible characters/reactions.

Before that I read Dark Matter by Michelle Paver, which was amazing and super creepy. I bought Thin Air by her to read next.

Just finished Sarah Water's Affinity. A good read, really enjoyed it but I haven't read a book of hers yet I've been disappointed in.

Literally only downloaded Stephen King's 11/22/63 tonight. Not a huge fan of his more recent stuff and tend to stick to the 'old school' King but thought I'd give it a whirl for a change.

Hermioneh I have just finished The Dry and I loved it...what else would I love...just getting bCk into reading after years of not reading. Have also read Eleanor Oliphant (really made me laugh whnen it wasn’t sad) and The Girl on the Train (good but dragged on a bit too long) ...anyone have suggestions for what I could read next..not into period dramas or anything too heavy...I loved The Dry as it’s descriptive nature really draws you in!

Also reading The Ritual and not finding it that well written, but I want to find out what happens.

Have just downloaded the complete novels of Wilkie Collins for free on kindle. Loved the Woman in White so hoping the rest are just as good, can't complain for free though!

Jenniferturkington I agree about A Little life. I wish I could unread it!

Currently ploughing through Ken Follet's, A Column of Fire, the third Kingsbridge book. It is set in Elizabethean times so should be really interesting but the writing feels very lumpen and devoid of life. I don't think Follett produces amazing works of art but I remember enjoying The Pillars of the Earth and World without End (the first two books) when I was ill a few years back and couldn't tackle complex narratives. They kind of motored along but not this one. I'm annoyed as I paid quite a lot for it on Kindle - things are a bit tight and I have been limiting myself to £1 deals but thought I would "treat" myself to it.

Have just started reading "men Explain things to Me and other essays" by Rebecca Solnit which was on Kindle offer for £1.09 a few weeks back. Very good so far - a lot resonating. Especially men talking about your field of expertise to you as if you know nothing about it!

I loved A Little Life but my DM detests it
Reading Big Brother by Lionel Schriver and the moment and not really enjoying it as much as I'd hoped

Is Harvest good? I really liked Signals of Distress and The Gift of Stones by Jim Crace which I read many years ago.
