The book where the husband loses his wife in a service station....title please!!!

Remember a review for a book where the wife runs away in a petrol station (think it is set in the States) and the story is him trying to find out why....

Ringing any bells anywhere??

He goes crazy and becomes obsessed with the guy that snatched her.
She went to the petrol station shop and he never saw her again

The Vanishing by Tim Krabbe, or Spoorloos in Dutch. The Dutch film has a much better ending imo.

No it was Vanished.I saw that as a teenager and it has frightened me ever since. I don'tknow why. I found it quite subtle and itimidating . The reason she disappeared was she was kidnapped and buried alive. That triggered my claustrophoboia as apparantly scratch marks were found on the inside of the coffin.
