Just read Then She Was Gone and found it really gripping - looking for a follow up read, so tell me, which books did you struggle to put down? Ideally looking for a thriller/mystery type

To kill a mockingbird. Took me ages to decide to read it. My word what a fool I had been to ignore it for so long. Read in about 4 baths lol

Jane Eyre. I find some of Margaret Attwood unputdownable - Alias Grace most of all. Sarah Waters books are good page turners as well, especially Fingersmith. I know a lot of people found 'Wolf Hall' difficult to get through but 'Bringing up the Bodies' is incredible and because we know what is happening before the characters do it's very compelling. I read it very quickly. I also lovedloved I Capture the Castle (very good classic teen fiction).

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (quite like Dangerous Liaisons by Laclos), I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes ( terrorist thriller) , The Artist's Muse by Kerry Postle ( feminist Girl with Pearl Earring), A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth (set in India - pulls you in. Didn't want it to end. Very long though...)

YY to Into the darkest corner! I read it with my book club years ago and we all agreed it was a real page turner! Not found a book quite like it since!

I read The Half Life of Joshua Jones in one night, recently.
I was bored by The Road, though.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 14/10/2017 19:40

Ditto Gone Girl
And Then There Were None (Agatha Christie) - I found it compelling
Peruasion, Jane Austen (as a die-hard fan of Pride and Prejudice, I was worried I wouldn't like it as much but it was wonderful. Ditto Sense and Sensibility. I find most of her works to be unputdownable actually)
The Shining, Stephen King. Frightening, gripping, memorable.

Y to The Road
Hugely divisive, but A Little Life- flew through it, wished I had another 700 pages!

I just read 'In a Lonely Place' by Dorothy B. Hughes. LA crime noir from the 1940s. It kept me reading all afternoon and evening until I got to the end.

I love these threads as I find lots of books to add to my reading list!

Can I just say thanks to the person who recommended into the darkest corner. I've only started it last night and really enjoying it already and I just know it's gonna be a great read
