Ahd how ridiculously excited am I? Here on Amazon, but I just happened to spot it in my local independent bookshop and grabbed it. DD said 'Can I start reading it' and I've had to tell her no, that I want to read it first.

Oh yes! Does anyone else remember the music from the tv series? Fantastic book.

I read it when I was about 8 first time but re-read it for several years afterwards. I should think it would be right up your children's street, Beety

You did Beety, looking forward to it Will keep my eyes peeled. I think Festival Flats is the best bet, isn't it?

I think DD (7) will just be old enough for it.

But there's a Father Christmas 'spoiler' where they tell each other to put a bundle of clothes in their beds when they go off tobogganing on Christmas Eve, so that when Mother comes to put stuff in their stocking, she won't notice they're gone. Will have to doctor that one, I think, which is easy enough when you're reading it to them, but not possible when they're reading it themselves.

Ah, I'd forgotten that JackieNo. I grew up thinking that FC just came down the chimney to check that my parents had left me enough presents, so it wouldn't have registered with me at the time. Thanks for the warning
