Anyone else heard about this ? A group of women wrote to each other for support and advice for over 50 years using pseudonyms - sound familar?

Hey, I'm here at work. Are you liking it?

Mercy · 15/03/2007 09:30

Wow, this sounds amazing!

I must confess to having a tear in my eye when I got to the end of the last paragraph.

Mercy · 15/03/2007 09:31

of the Independent article I mean

PippiLangstrump · 15/03/2007 11:16

I meant to start a thread about this last week when I bought the book.
It's brilliant. Made me think of MN straight away and made me cry on the tube on the way to work a good few times.
It is true, you feel like they are your friend in the end! All with the same problems - albeit I feel I should stop complaining about the amount of housework considering all the help we get...
I absolutely loved it!!
I bought it for my mum and MIL as well. I wish DH would read it too (he probably feels as if he did read it for how much I am talking about it).
I don't kind if I didn't get it free because I want the ook to be at the top of the bestseller list - the author deserves it!!
WELL DONE!!!
I am half way through and I'll be sorry when I finished it!!

dewey, a lot of my friends in italy would love to read it too, might have to send them some translated extracts.

JackieNo · 15/03/2007 11:39

This looks fab - will keep an eye out for the 10% off link on MN next month.

My copy arrived on Saturday, thank you very much.

I haven't started it yet as I am still wading my way through The Corrections (can't believe how long it has taken me to read that book), going on holiday next week so don't want to take it on holiday as it is far too nice a book to get all grotty with sand and suncream. However as soon as I get back it will be at the top of my reading pile. Looking forward to it!

Thanks again!

NappyValley · 26/04/2007 16:21

Not sure if this thread is till being watched, but I have jsut started reading "Can any mother help me?". And am loving it. My mum bought me a copy for Easter, as my gran was one of CCCs members.
