Great pick you up book. Can be read right through or in small bites. Lots of ideas you can apply to everyday life.

This is a beautifully presented, pretty book that helps to lift your mood just by looking at it. I bought this on a whim and as expected, cannot bring myself to deface the book by writing on it but have done some of the excercises. I think that where you have to record how you are feeling by the use of colour so that you can compare at a later date is very helpful and I'm finding the book helpful for sitting down with for 5 minutes every so often when my mood gets a bit low. It's not a "me" book but very superficially, I'm enjoying it because of the presentation.

dirtypop · 02/04/2017 11:47

i enjoyed the book and found the advise to be useful

Alfieisnoisy · 02/04/2017 11:59

I've just bought a copy if this book and so far I am enjoying it. It's well presented and as a depression sufferer it's helpful to read someone else's experience of it.

I haven't done any of the exercises yet but looking forward to doing them

katieskatie82 · 02/04/2017 18:35

could do with reading this book! looks very interesting x

hayleyjturner78 · 02/04/2017 18:44

Not read this yet but sounds really good

bc1616 · 02/04/2017 18:53

This book looks like a great self help book, very brave of Fearne Cotton to be so open about her depression

lisapop · 02/04/2017 20:00

I'm a fan of Fearne & I found this book didn't disappoint, really beautiful illustrations & written in a very understanding way, Fearne is extremely honest and down to earth in how she discusses her own mental health .

cocochips · 02/04/2017 20:24

I am intrigued to read this.

Dessallara · 02/04/2017 21:10

What a lovely book

molly57 · 02/04/2017 21:30

I'm certainly open to new ideas to boost my day and my time.

Jocelynne123 · 02/04/2017 23:23

I though the idea of this book was very good. However when I picked it up I the book shop and had a quick read through it I thought that it came of being patronising. I thought that a lot of the tips were just common sense. I'll admit I was a bit naughty and stood and read it for 10 minutes to see if I was being judgemental but just thought that it would be a waste of money to buy it. Thumbs down for this one xx

baconbap · 02/04/2017 23:29

Not my sort of book - I'm put off by the exercises.

clarabella12 · 03/04/2017 02:24

I loved it! very inspiring and uplifting.

snare · 03/04/2017 07:22

good advice but a bit simplistic in its approach :)

Alfieisnoisy · 03/04/2017 07:27

Sometimes when a person is depressed they need "simplistic".

I like it and I'd like to see more books with included exercises.

tishist · 03/04/2017 11:33

A good move by Fearne. It's good to get mental issues in the spotlight to reduce stigmas.

GeorgeW78 · 03/04/2017 11:58

An interesting book with loads of easy tips to follow & incorporate into your life. I would have liked some more challenging recipes though, chopped salad over two pages haha!

lemonsmum · 03/04/2017 21:27

I was very happy when this book came through my letter box. This is not the type of book I usually read but wanted to give it ago especially as its written by Fearne. When she describes her depression and other anxieties it was exactly how I felt/feel but couldn't put into words I found this very relatable. I feel it has already started to help me with the tips and positive thinking and i haven't finished the book yet. The exercises about writing things down are not really my thing but i will definitely be dipping in out of this book when Im feeling a bit off track or low and help me to focus again on being happy. I would recommend this book to a friend.

sallyc06 · 04/04/2017 10:55

This book is definately different, to find my inner happy self, a real good read, food for thought definately would recommend it.

bluebump · 04/04/2017 10:55

Thanks for my copy!

Firstly the book looks lovely, it has some lovely illustrations and the text is set out in a way that makes it easy to read. I've dipped in and out of it so far and I've quite enjoyed it. I like that Fearne is honest about her experiences and the little exercises encourage you to think about yourself and ways you can help yourself.

sylwright · 04/04/2017 11:16

Not very far into the book yet but I definitely like it so far, some good advice.

cookiemonster66 · 04/04/2017 11:17

I loved the feel of this book, it felt like a journal, or diary to hold, and the quality of the pages made it feel special. A book to keep and treasure. Very open and honest insight into depression. Great tools for keeping a positive outlook when all feels bleak and the black dog is at your door. I did pass my copy onto someone else who was in more need of this helpful book and she also found it very useful.

JJM · 04/04/2017 12:17

Following my initial feedback I have now had a chance to read in more detail. I really enjoyed it. It is exactly what it says on the cover. A happy, bright and enticing read. It is a mix of personal stories, useful tips, sources of information and exercises to work through which you can dip in and out of. The only reservations I had when I received it first was that is was overpriced but having read through it and compared similar texts I would say the price is pitched about right. An enjoyable read and thank you so much for sending it to me Mumsnet!

koala1979 · 04/04/2017 14:35

Haven't got very far yet, only just the introduction, but am really looking forward to reading more.
Prior to getting pregnant I was already on antidepressants, and had been very low during the first few months of my sons life, so can really relate.
Looking forward to getting through the book and hopefully getting something out of it
