If I really love Ruth Rendell and Agatha Christie, what else would I enjoy?

Just that really. I like both the Wexford books and the psychological thrillers like the Keys on the Street. Really struggling to find something. I don't like anything too gory though.

Definitely PD James.

Popskipiekin · 29/12/2016 23:03

Another saying Elizabeth George. Val McDermid?

Northernlurker · 29/12/2016 23:05

Val mcdermids brannigan books are fine but the later stuff is usually gory.

Margery Allingham

And you might like Lindsay Davis if you can cope with a roman setting.

Permanentlyexhausted · 29/12/2016 23:13

On the lighter side, M C Beaton (Agatha Raison, Hamish MacBeth) and Carola Dunn's Daisy Dalrymple series.

RustyPaperclip · 29/12/2016 23:14

I would highly recommend Susan Hill and Anne Perry. Possibly Paul Docherty

MindTheGarp · 29/12/2016 23:14

Kate Atkinson

pithivier · 30/12/2016 07:42

Rachel Abbott. I am currently reading Kill me Again and really enjoying it.

cdtaylornats · 30/12/2016 08:36

Edward Marston Railway Detective Series
Elly Griffiths Ruth Galloway series

scaryteacher · 30/12/2016 11:32

Another vote here for PD James, Margery Allingham, Lindsay Davis, Donna Leon, and I also like Jill Paton Walsh, the Imogen Quy books, plus her contributions to the Peter Wimsey books. Obviously Dorothy Sayers as well. The Scandinavian Noir stuff is good as well.

smurfest · 30/12/2016 19:14

PD James
Ian Rankin

Pancakeflipper · 30/12/2016 19:17

The Simon Serrailer series by Susan Hill.

Agree with PDJames. A murderous joy to read.
Also the Robert Galbraithe ones (JK Rowling in disguise)

Plifner · 30/12/2016 19:19

The shardlake chronicles
Brilliant, easy to read but well written, interesting and not too horrible

dawnb14 · 30/12/2016 19:19
