In the book, your child will be the heroine or hero of a great search across the continent for the letters of the alphabet. From picking tulips in the Netherlands to putting Swiss cuckoo clocks back together, The European Tour includes a host of challenges - resulting in a fun way for children to read and also discover more about Europe.

We ask all winners to share their thoughts (and their children's thoughts) about the book on this discussion thread. However, you don't have to win a free copy to take part in the discussion - anyone who has read The European Tour can post their feedback here (and you can buy the book now).

This really is a lovely book , pricey but you do get a lot of book for your money ! It is educational whilst being great fun to read and the illustrations are excellent . I am sure this will become a treasured favourite. Perfect for a gift as any child would love to receive this !

I was luckily enough to win a copy of The European Tour from Zebra Books. The actual ordering and choosing the cover could not have been any easier and it arrived when they said it would. The book itself was fabulous and my granddaughter was over the moon with it. I cannot recommend this book company highly enough.

i got a book for my son and it is a lovely book for 3-6 year old. It has great story line and make him feel special.

Valski · 19/12/2016 16:52

Thank you Mumsnet and Zebra Books - what a wonderful book. I ordered for my four year old and she has been mesmerised by the wonderful illustrations that accompany a tale which even manages to be witty enough to keep an older child engaged. We all have favourite "destinations" now and the this is a book that we all sit together to devour.

Wonderful speedy turnaround once ordered and I was really impressed that this book was so much more than the usual personalised affairs, which do not run to many pages and lack much charm. Printed on thick, glossy paper with a hardwearing cover, even the soft back version will stand the test of time. Whilst perhaps I would have thought it was a touch too dear for a personalised book, now I have seen the quality and length I have no doubts about future orders. For a special present this is a gem!

I sent pictures of my finished book to the Mumsnet twitter feed which shows some off the superb (and amusing even for an adult) illustrations. I have no doubt that I will be ordering from Zebra Books in the future.

Thanks v much, v impressed, Valski xxx

Hopefully I have attached several pictures which go some way to showing what a brilliantly ant and original idea The European Tour is.

Many thanks, xx

Lovely book with my sons name in it, I'm sure he'll cherish it for a long time. It helps him think about other countries and the different ways of living. It is a beautiful book, but don't think I would pay full price (£42!) for it.

Mindfulofmuddle · 19/12/2016 21:30

Thank you Mumsnet and Zebrabook for our copy. The book has lovely illustrations, and is decent quality. We chose the hardback. Being honest, I wouldn't buy the book for £42 (cost with delivery).
Whilst it is a nice book, I don't feel it is worth anything like that much money. DS liked the illustrations but said he didn't think he would actually read it again, and he is an avid reader who loves facts. 'On paper' (pardon the pun!) the concept of this book is perfect for him, but it just didn't live up to the price tag for us.

Alibongo67 · 20/12/2016 17:59

A unique and wonderful book, thank you, a lovely personalised gift

CopperPan · 27/12/2016 12:36

DS2 loved this book as it's always a bit magical to get personalised things. We love travelling as a family and it was good to look at all the illustrations of places we've been and places we might go in future. I think it seemed quite pricey though and I don't think I would have justified paying full price for it.

hippychick42 · 27/12/2016 16:12

My son is loving his copy of the book. It is a fantastic way to learn more about different countries and customs.

shelljen · 28/12/2016 17:37

A great way to learn different cultures, children adapt so easily.

mummyhereandthere · 30/12/2016 20:32

Really easy to order online, quick delivery and really well made.
I got this book for my 5yo who loves reading. He got it as a Christmas present and absolutely loves it. He loves the pictures, engaging and imaginative. He especially likes the personal touch with the story revolving around his name. He is now fixated with alphabet and has since almost learnt the alphabet song. It has really helped him as he has delayed speech so definitely worth it. Could not recommend it enough.

smit23 · 30/12/2016 21:12

we do a lot of European travelling so it was a great fit for us.. would definitely recommend!

mumpetuk1 · 01/01/2017 12:23

I have heard that it is very good

rocketriffs · 01/01/2017 17:26

We loved it. I took it with me when I was on a long train journey with my 6 yr old and could relate our real journey to the imaginary journeys to places in Europe. Fantastic idea.

angiehoggett · 01/01/2017 17:46

great book and such a good idea

PokemonWanker · 02/01/2017 19:10

Our book arrived just before Christmas. I was really impressed by how easy it was to order.

The book is beautiful and I think it would appeal to younger children. If you have an infant aged child, this would be a lovely gift. The website states the book is suitable for up to 10 years but I'm not sure the ending really fits with that. I won't say what it is as I don't want to spoil it for anyone!

Thanks Mumsnet and Zebra Books for selecting us!

hayleyjturner78 · 02/01/2017 19:19

fantastic idea to learn about different places

starlight36 · 02/01/2017 20:32

It is a really lovely book. One to keep for a long time and re-discover time and time again. It was very easy to order. As well as the expected options to add in your child's name and age it was an added bonus both to choose the front cover and to add a personal message. We chose the hardback book - big thank you to Zebra books for bring extra generous and allowing this option. Our copy arrived very quickly - faster than the predicted arrival time.

As others have commented the book has a lot of text and the story is well-written. As advertised it provides a tour of European countries providing a little insight into a cultural aspect of each country. The illustrations are charming and I liked the little explainers on each pages.

My DD (just turned 6) found this book
charming. She loved the story and the pictures and enjoyed the little quiz of finding images in the book. Her one criticism was that the ending suggested that she hadn't started learning to read yet which she found a bit insulting. I hadn't picked up on it but would agree this line might not work so well for older children, not the case for the rest of the text which is stimulating and informative.

wef1984 · 02/01/2017 20:42

lovely book, my little boy really enjoyed it

Dessallara · 02/01/2017 21:10

katieskatie82 · 02/01/2017 21:26

fab what a great idea for a book x

baconbap · 02/01/2017 22:04

love the illustrations

lemonsmum · 02/01/2017 22:26

Thanks mumsnet and zebra books for our copy. Iv been looking at personalised books so was very happy when we got picked as there is noway Id be able to pay full price for one. The book was very easy to order and fast delivery and was then wrapped up for a Christmas present.

The book is very good quality and took us two nights to read it. My daughter loved being able to see and find her name in the story and tried to find each letter as the character was given them. Its a lovely idea and my daughter said she liked it.

It seemed like the story was aimed at a child getting ready to read however I felt it might be a bit old for my 4 year old who is just learning to read as she has only so far learnt lowercase letters at school and with the character finding uppercase it confused her a little.

Overall its a lovely book I am sure it will get read lots of times and a lovely keepsake.

clarabella12 · 03/01/2017 01:23

fantastic book and even better that it's personalised.
