We're feeling festive and giving away 50 copies of this adorable Christmassy story plus Blue Kangaroo plush toy! You can apply for yours now.

It's Christmas Eve, and Lily is excitedly wondering if Father Christmas will come. She has made cards for everyone and put presents under the tree, including one for her beloved toy, Blue Kangaroo. But Blue Kangaroo hasn't got a gift for Lily - is there someone who can help?

We ask all winners to share their thoughts (and their children's thoughts) about the book on this discussion thread. However, you don't have to win a free copy to take part in the discussion - anyone who has read Merry Christmas, Blue Kangaroo! can post their feedback here (and you can buy the book now).

Everyone who posts feedback on the book on this thread before 27 December will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2shop voucher.

This giveaway is sponsored by HarperCollins

A very beautifully written book with great illustrations ideal for reading with Christmas just around the corner, my children loved it and was nice that blue kangaroo was with them in the form of the soft toy really made the story come to life, the story set on about that there more to Christmas than just receiving presents and that its important to give as much of oneself one can to others in love and friendship as we grow

Thank you for my copy that I shared with my god daughter aged 4. My own dd was incredibly jealous that she has a blue kangaroo as ten years ago I searched everywhere for one for her and never found one. The book itself is a joy to read and the illustrations are lovely it will be read numerous times no doubt as all the others in the series have. This one will be put away after Christmas though so we can enjoy it again next year.

My DS (6) and I read this last night. It is a lovely, heart warming story and my DS tried to pose the toy kangaroo into the same stances as the character in the book on every page. Reading through the activities that Lily does 'just for' Kangaroo has given us some ideas of activities to do when my DS breaks up from school.

We both enjoyed the book and it is one that I feel my DS will pick up on his own to have a read through independently.

I received DD's my copy at the weekend, thank you, I had totally forgotten and had no idea why we had got this parcel!

I've kept the toy Blue Kangaroo back to go in the stocking, but we read the book last night. DD is 3 and only just beginning to learn about Christmas and the traditions of gift giving etc so thi was a lovely gentle and clear introduction to all of that, that she could easily understand.

She totally didn't pick up on the Just like you Blue Kangaroo part though, she likes books that do that a lot, but this was not quite always at the end of a page so went unnoticed.

I think this will be a firm favourite in the run up to Christmas.

Thank you so much for my copy! My ds is 3 and he really enjoyed flipping the book pages. It is a heartwarming story, and absolutely perfect for Christmas time. Although we read the book, the blue Kangaroo is wrapped up and ready for Christmas... That will certainly add a special magic when reading the book in the future!

Thank you so much for this Blue Kangeroo set, it was a lovely surprise and arrived a few days after a new baby so it felt like a little present for him! The blue kangeroo is cute, gorgeous and very blue, though happily I think I like it more than either of my DC - DD3 only likes very soft soft-toys Hmm and DS1 only loves his blankie - so it's mine, hooray (until the new baby gets older and thieves it)!

The book is fab and my DD has requested it a lot already, including this evening. It's a really simple story and that makes it a very soothing Christmas story. The illustrations are really delightful and quite classic, the little girl reminds me of Milly Molly Mandy. I hadn't heard of the Blue Kangeroo books before but I would definitely buy more of the series (my DD might make me!). Thank you Mumsnet! Star

Such a gorgeous book, just a perfect story. The Little Blue Kangaroo bought the story to life. Thank you so much for such a lovely book, would definitely recommend it.

Symbista · 26/12/2016 06:49

We love this story! The kangaroo character is so sweet and perfect for little children who have their own special teddies.

TracyKNixon · 26/12/2016 07:24

Both my two younger children have loved Emma Chichester-Clark's stories about Blue Kangaroo. This is a lovely Christmas version - a favourite throughout the year - but if you have already got Just for You, Blue Kangaroo - this is the same book! A lovely, gentle read for bedtime and food for thought in thinking about others' needs before your own!

glenka · 26/12/2016 07:30

We have never read any of these books before but we are going to start as they sound like they are very good.

jacqui5366 · 26/12/2016 07:54

it is a sweet christmassy story, getting ready for Christmas, the excitement of the build up to Christmas, that other people did the same things we did, it was read several times and is now put away for next year, where I have some new ideas on what to do early December to make Christmas more special. A super festive read.

janeyf1 · 26/12/2016 09:04

How adorable. The little one is captivated by Blue Kangaroo

Saplamoj1972 · 26/12/2016 09:40

Another lovely book by Emma Chichester Clark. Beautiful Christmas book with an underlying theme about the joy of giving.

IonaAilidh11 · 26/12/2016 10:36

lovely story

MrsDramaQueen · 26/12/2016 10:43

Really cute for younger kids, although I'm not sure how a blue Kangaroo is Christmasy. The book and teddy set would make a lovely gift for a child at Christmas.

beckyinman · 26/12/2016 11:03

Everyone in my family loved this!

angela121262 · 26/12/2016 11:17

Sounds great!

frances93 · 26/12/2016 11:23

We really enjoyed this book as it was the right length for a bed time story and it really encouraged my kids to do Christmassy things in the run up to Christmas which made them more excited for the big day

iut044 · 26/12/2016 12:08

Sounds like a Beautiful Christmas book.

amyhalliday1 · 26/12/2016 12:21

Really good read

Sparklepants3 · 26/12/2016 12:23

My niece loves Christmas books and this one too!

At the moment anything to do with Christmas is special, I didn't get a change to read it with her as mummy is going to do that but it got pride of place on her bookcase!

I did get told that they had to read it three times before she would go to sleep!

Cailin7 · 26/12/2016 13:29

nice book with a great message

juju3 · 26/12/2016 13:31

dd really loved this book

FeelingSmurfy · 26/12/2016 13:48

We received a copy of this, it was a lovely surprise! It was used as a Christmas treat when everyone was getting a bit hyper and we needed to calm things down. We got the book out and read through it a few times, passing the blue kangaroo between everyone as each page was turned. It really calmed things down while still being a fun Christmas activity that we could all be a part of

The addition of the toy blue kangaroo really brought the book to life and made it more popular (as in this book would be chosen over the other Christmas books we have) but the story and illustrations were fantastic and it would have been a firm family favourite anyway.

I really liked the underlying message of doing things for other people

mooota1514 · 26/12/2016 13:50

My DD would love this!
