Adele, her husband David and his employee Louise's lives become entwined with deceit and a hidden secret. Things get complicated when David and Louise begin an affair and she becomes friends with Adele. It has some interesting twists and turns but the ending was a bit disappointing for me.

I love psychological thrillers. A nice pacy plot with plenty of trills and twists to keep you guessing!

mooota1514 · 26/12/2016 13:51

humtum167 · 26/12/2016 14:17

An addicting, intriguing, and consuming of a book it is.
The slow building suspense was gripping and so incredibly well written.
Is a must read.

This was a really enjoyable book that kept me hooked throughout and I can see it being a huge success. Thank you very much for my copy and I particularly enjoyed this cover which perplexed my children!

What did you think of the characters? - I liked all of the main characters even with their flaws. There is enough doubt created in the storyline to let you question whether your preconceptions were correct and even with presumed flaws in the characters psyche, you can still pity or forgive them some of their behaviours. There were a couple of secondary characters who needed to be in the storyline to assist in events later on in the book but I felt they could have been included in the latter part without such detail in the beginning.

What was your reaction to the ending? - The very ending of the book left me shocked in a fascinated sort of way. As in all good psychological thrillers, it was not what had happened that affected you but what COULD happen; an ending completely befitting the complexity of the book.

Did you expect the ending? - The end of the book was not what I expected at all. About half way through the book, I thought I had worked out the plot as I had read a novel as a child about long lost sisters that had a similar storyline to this and I have never forgotten it. The beginning of the end was certainly similar and enjoyable although with its own differences but I did not see the final twist coming. I am looking forward to rereading this book to see how my perceptions have changed - I think this book will be even more enjoyable the second time around.

I really enjoyed this book. Very well-written with believable, rounded characters. I couldn't believe that ending - so exciting! Very unexpected. I'll say no more...

glennamy · 26/12/2016 16:07

I love these stories... Without giving anything away I will just admit to re-reading the end again as I couldn't believe the ending! Great book but you need to concentrate, which as stated above I am not the best at doing! :) 5/5

vonniebab2 · 26/12/2016 16:38

A good thriller I did not predict the ending, full of secrets and mystery!

rocketriffs · 26/12/2016 18:54

Fantastic, tense, psychological thriller with a mysterious love triangle scenario that unravels more questions than answers. I've never read anything quite like this before and no surprise that Netflix are to adapt this for television. I cant wait. It's going to be good.

katieskatie82 · 26/12/2016 18:59

xenoyia6060 · 26/12/2016 23:35

This is an odd book because i still don't know how i feel about it. Not had this with a book before. I usually like thrillers but the wrting was very flat and i just couldn't find any positive emotions towards any of the characters. An affair and all the twists and turns that entails. A paranormal edge to it with a twist that still didn't draw me in. Not a book i enjoyed.

clarabella12 · 26/12/2016 23:57

It certainly kept me on the edge of my seat.

sweir1 · 27/12/2016 09:45

Great read - book of the year contender

CopperPan · 27/12/2016 12:28

This was a great thriller with plenty of twists, it certainly kept me gripped and personally I found the characters very real and engaging. I did not expect the ending at all, I found myself thinking about it for days after finishing the book!

princesssmitheee · 27/12/2016 14:42

sounds good

PrettyPurpleTulips · 27/12/2016 19:33

Absolutely fantastic book. It did take me a while to get into it, but once I did it seemed to flow and get more intriguing as the story went along. Although quite bizarre at times. The way the story was separated into each character was great as it meant I could keep track of who it was and see the story from their side. Their lives also seemed relateable and 'every day' rather than something that logically wouldn't occur . The ending wasn't what I expected at all. Will definitely be re-reading again!!! Can't wait for future books from the author!
