I really wanrt to find a book I read as a young girl -it was a pony/horse book, maybe by one of the usual pony book authors but not sure - group of children go on holiday to remote house in Wales- very bleak and no food etc...any ideas -or failing that, any suggestions of authors I could trawl through- thanks !

I think he was called Black Boy in earlier copies but then became Danny Boy in later reprints? I'm sure I read that somewhere.

The pony Freddie was 'owned' by the readers of Horse and Pony Magazine. Before that they had an arab called Silent King (Shazam for short) but he was put down after damaging his leg in a nasty trailer accident.

Wasn't Twoy a mule in a 'diary in some horsey magazine? Seem to remember it was written from the mule's point of view and was quite amusing. He used to say "manners maketh mule" when his patience was tried by Th (the human).

God I must have been a boring child!

Does anyone remember Wish for a Pony and Misty of Chincoteague? I got Wish for a Pony for my 8th birthday, my daughter is now reading the same copy! Still wishing for a pony!( or a nice steady old horse would do these days!)

I loved all of Monica Edwards' books, but sadly DD has never really had any interest in ponies, apart from the 'My little' variety!
I also remember Misty of Chincoteague, also the Moorland Mousie books, which I still have.

My mum got 'wish for a pony' as a prize at school and I read it loads of times as a kid. Mum still has it on her bookcase and she's a pensioner now. Misty of Chincoteague I only read once because it was too sad.
