HHas anyone read this? I stayed awake to read it, it was so gripping! I literally didn't put it down! It's 99p on Google play books I think, not sure about elsewhere and I definitely recommend it.

It's about a couple who's friends and family think are perfect, he's a lawyer who helps abused women, she's the perfect cook and homemaker. They're always together....... they're ALWAYS together. It's disturbing and chilling but it's the best book I've read in a while.

Any recommendations for anything based on my love of this are welcome!

I agree it's definitely a quick and easy read but also gripping. I hope the authors next book is as good!

Just finished Behind Closed Doors today and I loved it. Just bought, after reading this, The Kind Worth Killing.

I have loved reading most of the books mentioned but, while I remember enjoying them, I rarely remember plot lines. However, while reading the book I am totally into it. A bit like Jackie Collins but with more blood.

Happy reading :).

If anyone has read Stranger Child by Rachel Abbot (very good if you haven't read it), there's now a short story out to follow it up called Nowhere Child.

EverybodyHatesATourist · 23/03/2016 12:28

And how come she didn't have any friends? Imagine saying, "Oh I'm marrying this man I know nothing about and I'm selling my house and we're spending the money on furniture!" The friend would've slapped her around the face until she saw sense!

Can you imagine what AnyFucker would have said if she'd posted this on the Relationships board?

Just finished this book. It was fantastic. I feel irritated at points because I'm not a fan of antagonists, but obviously that is kinda the point lol. I loved how simplistic the ending was, it got you thinking because clearly Esther had worked out he was abusive and that the red room with the horrible images was intended for Millie.

My blood ran cold when he said there is no housekeeper on holiday. I just thought omg, what's he done to Molly.

Finished this last night- I really enjoyed it & got through it pretty quickly (always a good sign for me!).
I can see some 'faults' in some of the detail of the plot but I liked it for what it was.

I might look into some of the other books people have suggested on here now too...
And I'm not sure it's been mentioned but I've been recommended 'Before I go to sleep' which is meant to be a good read too...

B A Paris had released another book since called The Breakdown. Also a very good read well worth reading. Clare Macintosh is a similar writer. She has written 2 very good books may be worth a read.

PunkrockerGirl · 16/04/2017 21:43

Loved it, couldn't put it down.
"The Breakdown" - couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Imo it was okish, but nothing as good as Behind Closed Doors.

Sorry to reignite an old thread but I've just finished this book and was desperate to talk about it! It is one of the best books I've read in a long time. Normally when I read stories like this, I think they're totally implausible but every time I tried to think of a way for Grace to get out of her situation, I just couldn't - Jack had an answer for everything and the claustrophobia just made it so creepy. Any more recommendations for similar books much appreciated.

Great book !

Cheesymonster · 25/07/2017 06:37

Just finished the Breakdown and loved that too.
