Defy Blue Monday by sharing the secrets to your happiness for a chance to win a copy of Lucy Diamond's new novel The Secrets of Happiness plus a fabulous Sheer Bliss Pamper Hamper

What is the secret of happiness? Family? Love? Endless chocolate? Stepsisters Rachel and Becca certainly aren’t experts. They've never been close and seem to live perfectly opposite lives - Rachel has the house, husband and kids, while Becca lurches from one dead-end job and bad date to another. But when Rachel doesn't come home one night, Becca realises that her life isn't as perfect as she'd thought, and when the two stepsisters are thrown together, they discover that happiness, like love, can hide in the least likely of places.

Lucy Diamond is the bestselling author of Summer at Shell Cottage. You can find her on Twitter and Facebook.

This discussion is sponsored by Pan Macmillan and will end on 15 February. We will post the winner on the thread on that date.

Relaxing with my family!

naomicm · 19/01/2016 11:38

My daughter's of course are my happiness, spending time with them, being proud of what good girls they are. Happiness is also getting lost in a good book and living someone else's life for a little while (I love romance!)

Don't worry about what others have, appreciate what you have

Quality time with my family - away from it all, lazy morning breakfast/brunch, a bracing walk on the coastal path, good old fashioned fun playing on a beach finished off with fish n chips. Oh, and a large glass of wine when they're tucked up in bed and sleeping soundly from all that fresh air!

stormhorse · 19/01/2016 12:34

The secret of happiness is to cut out the worry.

'Got a problem and there's nothing you can do about it?' then why worry. There's nothing you can do about it. Let it take it's course.

'Got a problem and there's something you can do about it?' then why worry. There's something you can do about it. Do it.

stevo17471 · 19/01/2016 13:14

Happiness is knowing my family is there if I need them, and when they aren't I have a good book to read while I chill out.

lisa2104 · 19/01/2016 13:26

A really good laugh with people you really love. A great day out. And personally for me my daughter.

jodiecrossley1 · 19/01/2016 13:32

Don't worry about what other people think!

BigGapMum · 19/01/2016 13:48

Happiness is relishing what you have already and not craving the unattainable.

MillyVanilli222 · 19/01/2016 14:23

Learning to accept and love myself, quirks and all! It's something I'm always working on, I've always had a tendency to be hard on myself. But learning to be happy in my own skin is something I think is super important!

robinson131 · 19/01/2016 14:59

To be grateful for what you've got.Not wanting what you haven't got.

Crown · 19/01/2016 15:28

A relaxed mind is key to happiness for me.

wellhelloyou · 19/01/2016 15:30

Each morning, look yourself in the mirror and say 'I don't care what the world thinks'. You do this every morning and it boosts your feeling of self worth - I used to be a real people pleaser! I am still kind to people but am starting to change what 'strangers' think - they're probably not thinking about me anyway! :-)

sewscottish · 19/01/2016 16:06

just be happy for what you've got
