I have just finished The House I Grew Up In (Lisa Jewell) and I liked it but I couldn't stand Meg, the oldest daughter.

I got the feeling she'd really, really annoy me if I knew her Grin Smug, judgemental, bossy and mumsy.

I also didn't like Jill, of the Ruby Ferguson pony books, as a kid. She was always so intolerant of anyone nervy round horses!

Who are yours? I'm sure I have more ...

the main protagonist of Eat, Pray, Love. she disappeared up her own arse years before she ever wrote that stupid book. that slimy old man that she eventually copped off with at the end of the book was repulsive too.
i hate that book.

Melanie Wilkes.
She just annoys me so much, I just want her to smack Scarlett and say "Which part of Ashley is my husband is difficult for you to understand now give me my nephew and fuck off to Charleston"

Doesn't every sensible person dislike Anna Karenina and Gemma Bovary? Imagine how awful they would be if you'd met them in real life.

Same with Maggie Tulliver . Dorothea Brooke is quite annoying too.
