Is there a gripping psychological thriller?

Can anyone recommend one to me please? I'm fed up!

I've just finished the lie and thought it was blah. Rambly and kind of immature in style.

Prior to that I read girl on the train and really liked it.

Also really enjoyed the magpies.

Hated before I go to sleep.

Thought gone girl was a bit cack.

I seem to go against the grain of most people! If Amazon reviews are anything to go by.

I'm fed up of feeling deflated after finishing a book. I want something gripping, chilling, unputdownable, mysterious, with decent dialogue and not rambley descriptions. Does it exist and If so, what is it called?

Thanks

Marking place!

Was going to suggest Rachel Abbott but I see you have discovered her so will add another nod to try Elizabeth Hayes although I think her two most recent books have been dissapointing. If you liked The Magpies Mark Edwards has written others worth reading too but again the more recent stuff has been poor in my opinion.

Just going backwards on my Kindle:

Look Behind You (dissapointing)

The Girl on the Train (good)

Second Life (okay)

Stalkers (good)

Before you die (think this was good - memory hazy though)

Quite a few suggestions on this thread I'll look into though as need a new book!

Stuart MacBride's books are brilliant as are Peter James, Peter May and Lee Child.

I second Paul Daly and anything by Elizabeth Haynes - wonderful author.

Our Endless Numbered Days was pretty good.

If the Stephen King recommendation sounds like you, I read Firestarter many years ago and it's my favourite Stephen King by a long chalk. I think it fits the profile.
