Mine is 'The Sneetches'. Not widely available (you can get it in a collection of Dr Seuss on Amazon). Has great morals about social class, exclusion, wanting to be someone else/ desire to fit in, and many others - as well as being hilarious...like Green Eggs too

Too Many Daves is another classic. The kids love it.

I can't be doing with the likes of Hop on Pop though.

Too Many Daves is my favourite but then I have a soft spot for One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish too. DS2's absolute favourite book. Worn and chewed and falling apart. Very much loved, the whole family just seems to stop what they're doing and get drawn in whenever someone reads it to DS2 and all of the kids enjoy it no matter what their age

well mine is actually "oh the places you'll go".

but then it was given to me by an ex dp as a breaking up cos ex dp sodding off to australia present...

aaargh

its a bit of a hot potato in our house.

I used to love reading Dr Seuss with my kids then we did them at work with some kids and I totally went off them (well try interpreting Dr suess into BSL!)

Yes - that's DP's favourite line (and incidentally, he's also called Dave!).

MammyM · 08/11/2006 20:50

Too many Dave's is my absolute fave, the kids aren't so bothered, it sounds so good because it's short. I always have to read it twice! It's genius! Also, very underated (obviously not among his true fans though!) btw, have you seen the Dr Seuss website, can't remember it's address but I'm sure you'll find it if you google Dr Seuss, they have some good political parodies on there.

'Although it is raining and the sun is not sunny,
we can have lots of good fun that is funny'
Cat in the hat.

moljam · 08/11/2006 20:53

green eggs and ham is my favorite!

chipmonkey · 08/11/2006 21:42

I can recite the whole of "The Cat in the Hat" off by heart. I knew it as a child and reinforced it by reading it to the ds's. I love "The Cat in the Hat comes back" especially the bit where he's sitting in the bath eating cake. Love "Red fish, Blue Fish" as well.

I have my copy of 'Horton Hears A Who' which dts now love too.

"a person's a person, no matter how small"

That phrase I would imagine strikes with all children!

Also Green, Eggs and Ham, of course.
