To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, we're giving away 50 copies of Looking-Glass Girl - tween author Cathy Cassidy's modern day re-imagining of the classic story, as well as 50 copies of the Lewis Carroll original, republished by Puffin this month with a beautiful new design.

We’d love you to read the books with your dc’s and tell us what you think about Cathy's re-imagining of Alice and her adventures. Click here to find out more and apply for your free copy.
Anyone who comments on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw to win a beautiful Wonderland Wicker Hamper worth over £100.

If you aren’t lucky enough to win a copy of each book to review, you can still join the discussion by telling us who your favourite Alice in Wonderland characters are and why.

This giveaway is sponsored by Puffin.

The giveaway page will close on the 9 March, and we'll pick the hamper winner on the 30 April.

Love the Cheshire Cat hes got the biggest goofiest happiest grin bit like us all when we rolled our Easter Eggs yesterday

TheSpottedZebra · 07/04/2015 10:01

Ooh how odd, I'd not seen this thread before, but Alice in Wonderland was my favourite book when I was young, and my DD is currently engrossed in Looking Glass Girl - Cathy Cassidy being her favourite author. I shall suggest that she reads the original next!

Godmancunian · 07/04/2015 10:36

I love all the characters in Alice but The Queen Of Hearts gets my vote ..... Girl power!

mrboggle · 07/04/2015 11:03

I love the Mad Hatter

Dsiso · 07/04/2015 11:46

When I was 6 my primary school had its first summer fete. All the kids had to dress up. My mum chose a Morris dancing outfit for me (who knows why?) and my brother was The Mad Hatter. He had a magnificent tall hat made from corrugated cardboard and a massive orange bow tie. I was so jealous. My brother never looked back and now (age 40) has a cupboard full of fancy dress outfits!

leilajay · 07/04/2015 12:14

Great, love Alice in Wonderland.

sallyann123 · 07/04/2015 12:47

Brilliant classic story! My favourite character is the Cheshire cat and my daughters is The white rabbit x

sc00ter · 07/04/2015 15:18

My favourite character has to be the White Rabbit - always in such a hurry and oh so lovable. He's always around at the most important times in the story and he is so cute in his waistcoat and pocket watch.

DramaInPyjamas · 07/04/2015 19:58

This new book looks amazing, the originals were my favourite growing up and now I have passed my copies onto my daughter.

I would love to be Alice for the day - meeting all those weird and wonderful characters!!

Mzyellow · 08/04/2015 06:48

Every character is simply magical but I do love the queen of hearts attitude! "Off with their heads"

nugget05 · 08/04/2015 08:14

It's gotta be the mad hatter, I do love a crazy character although the Cheshire Cat does come a very close second

lota100 · 08/04/2015 08:47

Wow fab giveaway

idleweiss · 08/04/2015 11:45

Always loved the poem about the Jabberwoky..and although not an integral character in the book, it is my favourite!!

dinkystinky · 08/04/2015 11:45

Fab giveaway - the new book looks great. I really remember loving the Cheshire cat - and wishing I could fade in and out of places at will.

Susangilley7 · 08/04/2015 15:30

My favourite character has to be Mad Hatter. Just love hats!!! This hamper looks just right for a tea party!

MrsJ2000 · 09/04/2015 12:13

I love the Mad Hatter - an oddity of a man - but it all works. How many of us would just like to throw caution to the wind and be as mad as he is ?

hutchy73 · 09/04/2015 22:01

Love the mad hatter - love the hamper too !

Andrews55 · 13/04/2015 09:05

We have really enjoyed The Looking Glass Girl. I was happy with how the links to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland were woven into the story. It is a wonderful story which pre teens will relate to, full of all the issues that confront them as they are growing up. (There's a Savannah in every year group, isn't there?)

BigfootFilesHisToesInYourTea · 14/04/2015 20:47

We really enjoyed the book. It captured the dynamics of the girls' friendship well I thought, and I liked the links to Alice in Wonderland (developing the idea that things/people are not always what they appear)... It was well-paced and suspenseful and, without giving away any spoilers, it was a satisfying ending. Very enjoyable read!

Itchylegs · 15/04/2015 00:12

The Alice stories are such wonderful tales. The poems and set pieces are unforgettable. Am interested to see how this heritage is worked with.

mummyhaggan91 · 15/04/2015 18:27

Massive Alice in Wonderland fan so hope I bag a free copy of the book to try as I think I would enjoy it. I have an Alice in Wonderland sleeve tattoo Wink. Also the hamper would be fantastic to take my two little girls on an Alice style picnic. Fingers crossed I get lucky as never won anything before!

thewomaninwhitefluffybunnyears · 19/04/2015 21:30

The Cheshire Cat here too. How could it not be?! Good luck to all :)

shrunkenhead · 20/04/2015 11:16

We really enjoyed both these books. I'd read the original years ago so it was good to re read it and introduce it to a new audience.
Cathy Cassidy's was an easier read but still thoroughly enjoyable and we loved the ending.

lorka · 22/04/2015 17:21

Great books - thanks for sending them to us. Always loved the story when I was young so great to introduce it to my daughter. The Mad Hatter is my favourite character and my daughters too. Smile
