To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, we're giving away 50 copies of Looking-Glass Girl - tween author Cathy Cassidy's modern day re-imagining of the classic story, as well as 50 copies of the Lewis Carroll original, republished by Puffin this month with a beautiful new design.

We’d love you to read the books with your dc’s and tell us what you think about Cathy's re-imagining of Alice and her adventures. Click here to find out more and apply for your free copy.
Anyone who comments on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw to win a beautiful Wonderland Wicker Hamper worth over £100.

If you aren’t lucky enough to win a copy of each book to review, you can still join the discussion by telling us who your favourite Alice in Wonderland characters are and why.

This giveaway is sponsored by Puffin.

The giveaway page will close on the 9 March, and we'll pick the hamper winner on the 30 April.

The hamper looks gorgeous! Proper tea-party supplies. My favourite character would have to be the Jabberwocky, because it is brillig. Wink

Theimpossiblegirl · 05/03/2015 20:45

Oh my goodness I want the hamper so much! Where can I buy the tea set (in case I don't win).

Favourite character would have to be the Mock turtle. I memorised his song when I was a child. I always thought he was rather cute. Strange I know.

Lent1l · 13/03/2015 15:19

Finally figured out why these books popped through my door this morning (memory like a sieve). Looking forward to reading them.

DancingDinosaur · 13/03/2015 19:15

Thanks for the books! Looking forward to reading them :-)

AnnieBetts1 · 14/03/2015 17:49

This book is amazing! It is so wonderful and I don't want to put it down. I think my favourite part is the sleepover because it's got a wonderland theme. I am 9 and I reccomend it for 8-14 year olds. Thanks! (smile)

rratbag · 23/03/2015 12:08

Thank you for my books, - decided to have a quick glance at Looking glass Girl , half an hour later decided it is one of those books you can't put down , you just want to read the next chapter!

lorka · 23/03/2015 12:09

Can I just check whether we're supposed to leave our reviews on this thread or on the Mumsnet Reviews book bit?

Garton · 28/03/2015 18:40

Littlemissadequate · 30/03/2015 20:14

We would love to have a tea party with these! I have just pre ordered Looking Glass Girl. Thanks for the recommendation x

Goonergirl1 · 31/03/2015 22:17

Wonderful story which girls will be able to relate to, cleverly interwoven with the Alice in Wonderland story we know and love.

Theimpossiblegirl · 31/03/2015 22:41

My 11 year old is really enjoying this book, although she has not read the original yet, just seen the film. She said it is a good story with lots to keep her interested and that it would make a great film.

TinaMumsnet · 01/04/2015 17:04

Hi BigfootFilesHisToesInYourTea it's up to you really, you can post your review of the book on this thread, or if you prefer you can write a review in our review section.

Thanks for our copies. We are reading Alice in Wonderland at present, then moving on to Looking Glass Girl.

Andrews55 · 03/04/2015 15:21

What a trip down memory lane for me. The rich language and fabulous nonsense in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are wonderful. We loved the silly verses, and repeated them several times. There were opportunities to explain what sixpence, tuppence, shillings, and a hookah were. We are going to begin The Looking Glass Girl straight away to see how a modern novelist compares to Lewis Carroll.

Marmaladybird · 07/04/2015 09:07

We still have our childhood copy of Alice - I'd love to go on a picnic with that gorgeous hamper and spend the day reading it to the children and drinking tea.
