the tall skinny black guy on tikkabilla

southeastastra · 21/09/2006 21:10

geoffrey from rainbow! soothing

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 21/09/2006 21:23

Ronald Pickup , who voiced Aslan in the TV version of Narnia.

And Bernard Hepton , who has done loads of things but can't think of one that stands out. (He did play Thomas Cranmer in the 6 Wives of Henry8 in the 70s, but you won't be old enough to remember that!)

Both quite funny-looking (in a similar way too) but glorious voices. And both old. (In fact BH is over 80, blimey, but have heard him on the radio recently so I think he's still going!)

Jack davenport

samnbabes · 21/09/2006 21:48

ooohhh ... yes to Jack Davenport. Nice.
Rufus Sewell. Scrummy
And (not actor, but stil) Bono. Every time. He'd have to leave the lights out, mind you, or at least take his feckin' glasses off....

Love Garrison Keillor reading his own books - lovely voice because of his unique delivery. Touching and funny. And being the author, you just know you are hearing it like it is meant to be.

clumsymum · 21/09/2006 22:00

Emmylou, I have the garrison Keillor audiobooks too.

Trouble is I never hear the end, as his voice is soo soothing he sends me to sleep. Can't use them when I'm driving at all

EmmyLou · 21/09/2006 22:22

Yes, clumsymum - perhaps they should put a warning on the box

janeite · 27/09/2006 20:14

Alan Rickman - I go wobbly just thinking about him!

Bill Nighy and the bloke playing Honey's dad in Eastenders at the moment. Miriam Margolyes (?spelling)

DumbledoresGirl · 27/09/2006 20:19

Anton Lesser (anyone know him?) has a fantatic voice I think.

The best ever voice was Richard Burton, so I guess any Welsh voices similar to his would do it for me.

Piffle · 27/09/2006 20:20

Alan Rickman
Jeremy Irons
And George Clooney

Piffle · 27/09/2006 20:21

Stephen Fry does as well

saltire · 28/09/2006 21:36

Well i would listen to books about footie if it meant listening to Sean Bean - i stop what i'm doing when the Morrisons or O2 adverts are on tv. Sad eh?
