My stepdaughter had been to seen the film by the time I received the book from you, but I much prefer books to films, and from what she had told me, it was one for me.
I do enjoy teenage/young adult books as they are nice easy reading, but very real, I find a lot of the time. This was no exception, it was well written, and I'm sure could make younger readers perhaps a little more grateful for what they have (hopeful thinking!). The witty humour made me laugh out loud, but for a large majority of the time there were tears in my eyes, and the fact that I felt such strong emotions is down to John green's excellent writing.

Thank you for my copy.

I thought it was really well written and the story was gripping right until the end. When Hazel was describing her grief I expected her voice to reflect it and not carry on in the same matter of fact manner. I was a bit disappointed tbh.

I did think the characters were brought to life very well though and even the most colourful characters seemed very real.

I received a copy of this book from the mumsnet giveaway, I can't tell you how pleased I was. This has actually been on my TBR list for quite some time. I wasn't disappointed.

Hazel is living with cancer, she has been for sometime and has got herself stuck in a rut.

She meets Augustus at a support group, at the time of meeting him, he is in remission.

It was nice watching not only a relationship form, but a friendship too.

I liked that actually the focus wasn't so much on the cancer and the dying factor but more on the living. It showed the braveness that some people can demonstrate.

Overall a well written book, funny at times but definitely emotional, I'm not ashamed to admit I cried!!

Thankyou for this book. It is an excellent read. I'm not sure what I expected, but this wasn't it. I didn't expect the twist, and also didn't expect it to end where it did. I liked the fact that it didn't tie up all the endings, and that there weren't always answers.

I wonder if the film will be as unhollywood as the book.

'The fault in our stars 'is such a deep, intense, powerful book that gives you the urge to live your life even though you know that you only have only few years to live. Its a story about embracing your fate and living life as its comes by. I felt like I was part of the suffering, laughs and pains of all the characters. It was a story that made me laugh and then cry and then feeling weak and powerful. Its was a story that would stay in my memory for a long time.

Just finished my copy of the book (took me a while because of moving house not because of the book!)

Liked it. A lot. It could have been overly sentimental or manipulative, and the romance could have been a slightly nauseating teenage 'true lurve' narrative unpalatable to anyone over the age of 20. But I found it genuinely intelligent and moving. I particularly liked the character of Augustus - realistically flawed in a way which made him likeable - and the way the love story runs through the book without overpowering it. Definitely a book I'll be recommending to others.

I was really pleased to be given a copy of this book from Mumsnet, thank you. I had previously bought a copy for my 13 year old nephew as I had heard good things about it and I was keen to read it for myself. It was an easy read and it kept me interested all the way to the end. As a Teen Fiction book I thought the subject matter was engaging and thought-provoking, but I didn't really believe the main teenage characters as I thought their dialogue was too pretentious and unrealistic (apologies to any teenagers who do talk like that!). Having said that, I did enjoy the book and I would encourage people to read it (especially older teenagers).

I'm a bit behind because of work and just finished this book. It was a very easy read and I got through it in a couple of days, mostly because I felt compelled to get to the end of the story. It was emotional both up and down but I have read books that really had me sobbing and this wasn't one of them. However the characters were well written and not just the main two but all of the side cast. I enjoyed The fault in our stars but I'd sY it was more of a beach read and not too taxing on the brain. Thank you for my copy.

Wowzers! What a phenomenal read. I know some peeps can be stuffy about so called "teen fiction" but I disagree. The film does not do this book justice. It tackles teenage cancer beautifully. Don't let anyone tell you too much about the plot if you intend to read/see movie as the the complete and utter joy this story brings will be lost.

Axlemaimi · 09/09/2014 17:48

Cute story but not the greatest writing. The storyline is predictable and cliche. Very little character development and it's hard to become invested in their stories. I have no idea why this book became a best seller.
Thanks for the copy.

DorisIsALittleBitPartial · 09/09/2014 17:52

I'd really love a copy too please!

newtokingston · 09/09/2014 19:45

Thanks so much for sending the book. Great and easy holiday read, although a tear jerker. I would have to say that it is not the best writing in the world but enjoyable! Thanks again.

whatwoulddexterdo · 11/09/2014 21:21

Thank you for my free copy. I did enjoy this but as others have said I did feel that the writing was a little simplistic. Having said that I did cry like a baby. My DS 13 has asked to borrow it and i will let him.
