Do you have a book that you regularly reread or is your literary comfort blanket?
Mine is The secret diary of Adrian Mole - the first one

A very old and battered but much loved copy of a Childs Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson

meringuesnowflakes33 · 09/03/2014 19:29

The Tales of the City series

EvenFlo · 09/03/2014 19:49

It's Adrian Mole for me too!!

lellibobs · 09/03/2014 19:56

Emily, Bella, Octavia , Imogen Prudence and Harriet all by Jilly cooper. Had to buy a complete new set a while ago as they got borrowed and not returned!

Also any agatha Christie

NorksAreMessy · 09/03/2014 19:56

For sheer joy and pleasure in every line I go back time and time again to Lord Peter Wimsey. Especially 'Murder must Advertise'

For regressing back to happy childhood it is the wonderfully disturbing 'Marian's dreams'

I agree, though, for perfect relaxation, I get those nice people at Audible arrange to have someone read it to me. Derek Jacobi reading Sherlock Holmes is PERFECT!

BlueJean · 09/03/2014 22:25

The Miss Read books.

Thrush green or Fairacre series ,I am not fussed.

Either will do and I can pick up any book and instantly know where I am in the story. Perfect for a non stressful read.

VanitasVanitatum · 09/03/2014 22:37

Georgette Heyer, Anne of Green Gables, Enid Blyton (I know I shouldn't..) or the chalet school.

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 10/03/2014 18:57

Mark reads Twilight Grin

wildstrawberryplace · 10/03/2014 19:04

Shadow of the Moon by MM Kaye, or Dervla Murphy's travel writings.

Amiawake · 11/03/2014 09:48

nanetta it does feel like that! I read it on journeys or if I'm away on a course. It's a journeying kind of book.

MrsFreddieThreepwood · 11/03/2014 09:51

Wodehouse or Arthur Ransome, especially those with the 'Norfolk Coots'Smile

aoife24 · 14/03/2014 19:00

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 14/03/2014 19:05

Any Maeve Binchy

The Long Winter, by Laura Ingalls Wilder ( little house on the prairie!)

Little women (though it is still wrong Jo did not end up with Laurie)
