Any of the "what Katy did" books.
Most of Georgette Heyers, and Andrea Camilleri's "Montalbano" books, as there's so much in them that makes me laugh. Another one that I've read til it's held together will tape is "Mist over Pendle"

Grand Sophy, have it on my Kindle and paperback. I read it at least once a year, my go-to comfort book. But most of Georgette Heyer works, just not as quickly.
Terry Pratchett, usually a Watch one.

Have lots of my childhood favourites on my Kindle. Anne of Green Gables series, Emily of New Moon and lots of Rosemary Sutcliffe. All are brilliant for escaping into...

I'm with GinGirl - The Grand Sophy is my ultimate comfort read but nearly all of Georgette Heyer works. Other favourites are Venetia, Regency Buck, These Old Shades and The Talisman Ring. DH regularly has to promise to ride ventre a terre to my death bed Grin

Anything by Mary Stewart, gentle, well-written romances, but I love the Merlin ones too.

Just re-reading previous posts - Goodnight Mister Tom is a wonderful book, I just about knew it off by heart when I was a teenager. I still think of pyjamas as 'pie-jarmers' Grin
