Lit Fic for ME please

Any recommendations? Need lots of books for hols. I want lit fiction eg I do not want Khaled Hossein, Harold Fry, JoJo Moyes etc etc (nothing wrong with them, but I don't want them).

I want Mantel/Mitchell/Houllebecq type stuff please and thank you.

Oh, and I know it's not fiction but if you haven't read any David Sedaris YOU HAVE NOT LIVED.

I think my DH would like Blood Meridian so I'll order it and if it makes me too queasy/exhausted I'll tell him to read it instead.

And probably recommending the blindingly obvious now, but:

I have had a look at those Scone and will give them a try-I buy second hand (hate my kindle) so hopefully not bankrupted by todays recommendations

Oh I like Gail Godwin, I read her about 20 years ago, had quite forgot she existed. Will check all the latest recs out.
