My DH and friends giggle at me but I love her books. Chocolate, sofa snuggles and one of her books and I am a happy lady Smile
Am I the only one?

I love her too. Having problems getting into any books at the moment so I went to the library today to see if I could find something and I spotted some Agatha Christie's. I've not read any of hers for years so I picked up a couple.
Started The Murder of Roger Ackroyd earlier and I'm loving it. They're great stories and so easy to read.

I like the Amelia Peabody books, too. And Laurie R King. Also Phil Rickman although they are a bit more grim, and not really detective stories.

I read loads and loads of her books as a teenager. Loved them!

No time to read except Mumsnet since having DCs. But I probably should work out which ones I have/have not read and work on the remaining ones at some point.

I've just started buying them on my kindle.
I love the Agatha Christie drama on the telly, especially David Suchet and Joan Hickson.
It's the time they were set with country houses and servants and genteel murders.
There's a new Miss Marple on ITV tomorrow, I'm so looking forward to it.

I've read all her books & have at least one copy of all of them.

The first one I read was Murder on the Orient Express, which I found lying around at home once when I was about 14. I spent many happy hours pottering around second hand book shops picking up the rest of them. It got to the stage that I had all of them except for one, and it literally took me a couple of years to track it down - this being about 30 years ago before the internet.

Imagine my joy when I went into a bookshop & found not one, but two copies of the missing book. I was literally jumping up & down with excitement, and of course I bought them both. And for the life of me I can't remember which one it was now.

The whole set, plus all the biographies and books about books are safely stored in the attic. Must be about time for a re-read...

I'm going to try & remember which book it was, it's annoying me now. And it was such a big deal at the time!

The one that took me forever to find was the Listerdale mystery . Took me nearly 3 years to find it , even though I owned two second hand bookshops !

Now I've got it in hardback , paperback , on my kindle ..... !

Still trying to work out what my favourite would be , and I have to say I think it would be a Marple . Probably The Body in the Library as it was the first one I read , which formed the reading habits of a lifetime !

My favourite first read was probably After the Funeral. I prefer Miss Marple to HP in general.

I recently re-read The Secret Adversary on my Kindle.

I enjoyed revisiting one of the most chilling lines in literature: "I am Mr Brown..."

Miss M appears to solve crime by doing nothing and being sanctimonious. I loathe her.

I like those Amelia Peabody ones though - they are hilarious. They get v samey after a couple though.

Oh yes ! I didn't see that coming .

I also loved the Man in the Brown Suit , with that genial villain Sir Eustace Pedler , and his secretary with a face like an executioner !

I've just read my first Miss Marple - They do it with Mirrors. AND I'm starting my first Amelia Peabody Mystery... Thought I needed a change from Cadfeal, Baldwin and Peter Whimsey.

Oh yes, the Man in the Brown Suit & the scary secretary!

I think my favourite non-Marple/Poirot was Death Comes As the End - I liked the Ancient Egyptian setting.

After I'd gone through all the Christies I read the Ngaio Marsh books. I think I have all of them as well.

I'm going to get hold of a few Amelia Peabody books, I've never heard of them until tonight so thanks for the recommendation.

I have spent the last year or so working my way through her collection.

I do have a slight chuckle at some of the (nowadays) non PC language used.

I know, and Ngaio Marsh is even worse. It's quite shocking to our modern ears.

Another fan here. I also have copy of all her books, the Joan Hickson Miss Marple dvds, the Magaret Rutherford films, some of the Ustinov films, Murder on the Orient Express dvd, looking foward to getting boxset of the Poirots when they finish them, numerous audiobooks etc. etc.

Nothing more comforting than a hot bath, cup of tea and a good murder!

Looking foward to Marple tonight, has the added attraction of having the gorgeous Charles Mesure in it Smile.

Am reading a Flavia de Luce novel at the moment are very Christiesque(sp!).

I just want to say that this thread is going to cost me a fortune in kindle downloads with the writers I've never heard of but now want to read all their books (Ngaio Marsh etc - have already worked my way through Dorothy L Sayer)
