Adult / YA books from animal perspective?

I'm not talking supernatural, like werewolves or vampires, I really dislike that genre. I'm looking for books from an animal's perspective, preferably that I can buy on Kindle. I have found Spencer Quinn, and "A Dogs Purpose" which is a good book, but has anyone else found anything good in this sort of genre? I'm finding it hard to find quality books like this - I don't want 10 pages on your rescued border collie from the dogs perspective, I want to read an actual fiction book!

There's a book called Stray by A.N. Wilson which I read with school as a teenager, but it's utterly depressing

There was a whole spate of these when I was a tweenager, waaay back.

The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams sounds exactly what you're after.

Warhorse is brilliant. Possibly a little young though, how old is the prospective reader?

Call of the Wild and Thomasina are also in 1st person.

The guy who wrote the Duncton Wood Chronicles (a sort of Lord of the Rings epic but starring moles) also wrote a similar couple of books called The Wolves of Time Chronicles.
And a book called Callanish about golden eagles.

Not sure if that's what you are looking for but maybe worth looking at on Amazon.

Duncton wood is incredible

There's the Cat Royal series- they aren't "reality" from the cat's pov though, they are fantasy, but the cat is the main protagonist and it's his point of view.
Some info here about the series.

David Clement Davies wrote a series about deers and another about wolves. I think the wolf one is The Sight and the deer one is called Fire.
