The Wicked Girls by Alex Marwood

2 girls imprisoned for murder when they were young....25 years later they meet again.

Very good...read it in 2 days.

Who do you think it may be LastMango? Really intrigued now. Please share!

porcamiseria · 26/08/2012 11:01

good rec OP

very good book, literally unputdownable

was it only me that thought amber was the girl from the poor family, for ages!

poor poor anabel/amber

and I was sad, yet relieved by the ending

LastMangoInParis · 26/08/2012 11:05

Ms Williams who writes for Guardian?
I'm probably way off the mark, but AM is journalist, lives in S London (I think), and parts of the book are very, very funny in a ZW type way.

myalias · 26/08/2012 16:38

This was one of the books I read on holiday it was brilliant, read it in a couple of days. I thought Amber was from the poor family too. I also read S J Watson Before I go to sleep another brilliant psycho thriller.

Just finished Cuckoo by Julie Crouch. Very good indeed.

bamboostalks · 27/08/2012 17:37

Not sure re. Williams. Her pregnancy book was pretty dire.

Mintyy · 27/08/2012 17:37

yet more lurking

DuchessofMalfi · 27/08/2012 19:10

Just finished reading Finders Keepers by Belinda Bauer, the third in the series set in Shipcott on Exmoor. Chilling and utterly brilliant. The other two are Blaclands and Dark Side. Must be read in order.

Thanks. Will download. Some great recommendations here. Turning into a nice little thread. Smile

Robomummy · 27/08/2012 21:25

Just finished The wicked girls - great recommendation OP. Walked into things reading it on my phone on the way to work this morning Blush

Cantdothisagain · 27/08/2012 21:52

Don't read Julia Crouch's second book - or at least, be warned if you do that it deteriorates fast......

bamboostalks · 28/08/2012 20:01

Thanks for the Julia Crouch heads up...the ending wasn't brilliant on Cuckoo so will steer clear. Am loving Blacklands, truly engrossing.

maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour · 28/08/2012 20:05

Thanks mrsrobert, I've just finished it and I really enjoyed it Smile

MimsyBorogroves · 28/08/2012 22:21

I'm coming to the end of The Playdate by Louise Millar.

From the premise I expected something that was "brain off, chewing gum for the eyes" chick lit reading, but I've been really surprised and pleased with it. Definitely recommended.

extratoastwiththat · 28/08/2012 22:24

Thanks, MrsRD. Smile

StealthPolarBear · 28/08/2012 22:28

Thanks for these recommendations.
I enjoyed cuckoo. Thought when I go to sleep was a bit far fetched.

valiumredhead · 02/09/2012 19:19

LOVED this book - very very clever on all sorts of levels.

valiumredhead · 02/09/2012 19:20

Also loved The Playdate and have just finished The Perfect Mother which had me gripped from the get go by Margaret Leroy.

DowagersHump · 02/09/2012 19:39

Thought Cuckoo was a bit silly but I will give Playdate a go.

limepickle · 06/09/2012 10:37

Quite tempted with the Wicked Girls. Is it gory/very detailed ? I need to be able to sleep afterwards !

valiumredhead · 06/09/2012 13:45

No, not at all.

winterhill · 21/11/2012 09:10

I bought The Playdate on recommendation.
It was not that great. Two of the main characters were unlikeable. Bored me to tears.

bimblebee · 22/11/2012 09:53

Thought When I Go To Sleep was intriguing but not always believable (must have taken hours to read the diary everyday!)
Best psychological thriller I have read in past 2 months was Black is the Colour by Helen Howe (it's set in an area near where I live and had some good music references too).

moonblushtomato · 22/11/2012 21:36

Just finished Tideline by Penny Hancock. I was gripped but felt extremely let down and distraught with the ending
