The Wicked Girls by Alex Marwood

2 girls imprisoned for murder when they were young....25 years later they meet again.

Very good...read it in 2 days.

Thanks!

Thanks so much, love recommendations.
You're not Alex Marwood.

bamboostalks · 11/08/2012 20:42

are you? Grin

PerditaMcLeod · 11/08/2012 20:42

I read that as well recently. Would definitely recommend it.

yellowraincoat · 11/08/2012 20:45

Ooh thanks, got a long train journey on Monday, just what I need.

MarthasHarbour · 11/08/2012 20:46

Currently being transported to my kindle as we speak!

Many thanks OP Smile

PedanticPanda · 11/08/2012 20:49

Great thanks, I'm going to buy it now Smile

zandy · 11/08/2012 21:15

I've read this. Fully recommend!

alcibiades · 11/08/2012 21:40

I really must pay more attention to this area. I've just finished "Rivers of London" which was recommended here, and I've now downloaded this book.

I do like the occasional whodunnit - I'm slowly working my way through the Kinsey Millhone series - but I also like the kind of psychological thriller that looks at the minds of such aberrant behaviour. When reading the synopsis on Amazon I was reminded of a real life case that happened decades ago in Australia, where no-one could really explain the psychology of those two young girls.

SrirachaGirl · 11/08/2012 21:48

Ordered Smile. Thanks.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 12/08/2012 08:23

No I am not the author Smile
she is working on her next novel.

Just started another good one..gone Girl by Gilliam Flynn.
That's me sorted for the next few days!!

Just started reading this book this morning and am already hooked!

bamboostalks · 13/08/2012 19:36

Me too, thanks. Stuck to my kindle since yesterday. Girl will be next.

MimsyBorogroves · 15/08/2012 22:06

Thanks again for this MrsR (I'm enjoying teaching ds1 jabberwocky). Just finished it and thought it was very, very well written - thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was expecting it to be a bit more like 'Boy A' but I actually found it more thought provoking and definitely more of a page turner.

Now, what to read next? Grin

MimsyBorogroves · 15/08/2012 22:07

Just reread the thread and remembered I've got Gone Girl to put on. There's my answer...

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 15/08/2012 22:40

I posted about the wicked girls a while ago, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the twists had me fooled every step of the way through it too. Every time I thought I knew what was coming next I was wrong.

MarthasHarbour · 22/08/2012 14:06

Just finished this, i enjoyed it - but confess to guessing the twists before they occurred - such as a certain person knowing all along who a certain person was Wink

Have just started reading The Missing now - another one that has me gripped straight away

Thank you OP!

moonblushtomato · 23/08/2012 19:04

Am LOVING all these psychological thrillers at the mo!!

Recently read Erin Kelly's The Sick Rose and Into the Darkest Corner (can't remember who penned that one!)

Currently reading Before I go to Sleep... starting off a bit slow, hope it improves soon.

I've got Cuckoo by Julia Crouch to read next.

Lolalollipop · 23/08/2012 19:05

Marking my place so I can find thread when have my bank card handy. Thanks!

bamboostalks · 23/08/2012 20:26

Just finished The Wicked Girls. Was pretty good.

LastMangoInParis · 23/08/2012 20:30

Yeah, it's good: follows crime fiction formula, but still really well written, bits of it are really funny.
Wish I knew who Alex Marwood is, though. (I have my theory re. a particular very clever, funny journalist, but if it's her she's just too clever, too prolific in producing, funny, clever, snappy work and the thought of someone getting that much done is exhausting...)
So who is Alex Marwood?

DowagersHump · 23/08/2012 20:32

I really enjoyed it - thought it was very clever indeed
