I know there are loads of GH fans on here, so what do you think?

Yes, also as Infamous Army is really amazing book, in terms of emotional impact, character development, historical depth etc, whereas I found Spanish Bride a bit one-dimensional and just focused around the battles.

Really good idea for the book club, I am actually looking forward to rereading The Black Moth for the first time since teenage years.

Can I please please please join? I love GH in a sick obsessed way, to the extent of asking DH to "give me the word with no bark" on it t'other day. He looked at me as if I was barking, heehee.

I'm up for it! Does no-one swoon over the Duke of Avon?

I love These Old Shades - one of my favourite. Only drawback to swooning over the Duke are the outfits - just don't find them as attractive as the breeches and boots ensembles of the Regency men. A bit too powdered and painted for my taste. But his sinister personality is right up my (fantasy) street

Lavender - I have been known to make DH reassure me that he would ride 'ventre a terre' to my death bed (The Talisman Ring, anyone?!)

My favourite Heyer-ism is 'making a cake of oneself' I use it on the dcs fairly frequently!

I can't swoon over the Duke of Avon 'cos in my head he looks like the bloke on the front cover of my version :)

Oh don't - I have those editions too and they don't half put me off fancying any of the blokes! In my head they all look like some version of Matthew McFadyen in P&P or Greg Wise in Sense and Sensibility - you get the idea!

Ooooh, yes to Greg Wise!

Someone mentioned the Spanish Bride and how it's a bit of a hard read, I wonder if it's because it centres almost entirely, (maybe entirely, I can't remember) around real people, to me that wasn't her strength.

I was in accidentally in Bath on Saturday, but sadly didn't make it anywhere Heyer-related . Did walk past the Pump Room though.

I was in Brighton the other day and walked past the Steyne.
And the journey to Brighton from london always reminds me of Regency Buck.

I have ordered my copy of Black Moth from the library. There are 3 copies and I am third in a queue. Come on, who else is in Suffolk and ordered? :o

GH was one of the reasons I chose to go to Sussex Uni and I'm still here . I would love to go to Bath one day too

GH was one of DD1s factors in choosing Bath for uni too [well brought up girl]

odd thing is, Georgette Heyers are quite expensive on Kindle. Despite being out of print for a good few years until quite recently - I used to have to go to one special second hand bookshop in London to get my fix (my Mother used to come round and retrieve all the copies I had nicked borrowed from her).

Devil's Cub is one of my favourites, but I also love Frederica and Regency Buck. In fact I love lots of them. I have Frederica and Jessamy on my list for my next dc due in a few weeks.

I haven't read Black MOth for a while though....

Can I join too I've loved her ever since my english teacher gave us Regency Buck to read to cheer us up after making us read Silas Marner.

I wish my english teacher had given us GH after Silas Marner. I detested that book.

I'm halfway through Black Moth, can't wait for the 30th .
