Lee Child is wrong! Someone on the link suggested Brad Pitt, I think I could go for that.

But Brad is totally wrong as well, physically (albeit that he's more attractive)

I always some somewhere close to Dolph Lundgren whenever I try to get a mental image of Jack Reacher....although Dolph Lundgren has the acting prowess of an ironing board.

Tom Cruise won me over as an actor in Interview with the Vampire and Collateral but he IS JUST NOT Jack Reacher. Bit like when they cast Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls. Big name, no matter how far off they are from the character.

Rutger Hauer lacks the sheer mass, but could manage the role I think.
Cruise the Wondergoblin? Just ridiculous to try and envisage.

That is the worst casting decision ever. It's not highbrow lit but Reacher is an iconic character IMO.

It would have been great to cast a fabulous, gorgeous, TALL unknown actor. Or Sawyer from Lost maybe?

Fortunately it sounds like they're only 'in talks' with him so hopefully it will come to nothing. Ludicrous idea.

I heard an interview with LC where he said he'd always imagined Reacher looking like Laurence Dellallio (?spelling!). I don't think TC looks like that.

It was bad enough having Jason Isaacs playing Jackson Brodie (who is far older / stouter / hairier in my imagination) without bringing Jack Reacher down to Hollywood level.

Pity Heath Ledger Died, he was a tall guy, and a great actor, but Hugh Jackman would make a good Reacher as well, or even Russell Crow, just for size.

What about Sean Bean? That's how I imagine Reacher (I've read 'em all!)

What a crap casting. I am not a fan of TC and he does not match any of the descriptions in the books.

Imagine the trouble they will have finding enough teeny-tiny actors for the rest of the cast. And they might as well reuse the Hobbit set in NZ to get everything to scale.

Maybe they could work some CGI magic on Tom and make him look 6'5".

Now this may be a bit off kilter, but has anyone seen Leonardo di caprio in Blood Diamond? He was a revelation as action hero type guy. And he looks mean too. Was just a thought!

No - he is (like Brad Pitt) too boyish. Reacher needs someone more rugged and with much more physical presence. Not a pretty boy!
