bloody brilliant the first 4 or 5 times you read them.

after that a little tedious and annoying.

but rob is v tasty and delicious.

fivegomadindorset · 28/04/2011 22:14

Awful book.

albania · 28/04/2011 22:16

You're the only one over the age of 15!
Well, no you aren't, I bet there are loads.
But personally, I think he's a bit of an odd duck, that Edward Cullen. He sneaks into a 17 YO girls bedroom, stalks her whilst she's shopping with her friends, and tries to control her Confused
Not quite my type, but each to their own and all that

goodbyemrschips · 28/04/2011 22:18

love it love it love it i am 42

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 28/04/2011 22:24

You're not alone! Have you read all the books or just twilight?
I recommend the rest of them too, also if you go to Stephanie Meyers website you can read midnight sun (unfinished though) which us twilight from Edward's perspective it gives a really good insight to his personality and deeper understanding of the character and motivations.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 28/04/2011 22:24

If it's relevant I'm 25 btw

goodbyemrschips · 28/04/2011 22:26

yep read them all and midnight sun......

mummybookworm · 28/04/2011 22:26

I have only read the first book, but seen the first and second films. I considered buying the other 3 books in Waterstones today as they are on 3 for 2, but I will have to see how the finances are this month!

SPOILER ALERT

Don't worry, I'm not going to flame you Grin I discovered Twilight a couple of years ago and I have to admit, briefly had something of a crush on Edward Cullen (and I'm 45!!) but went right off him when I found out he'd been sneaking into Bella's room at night and watching her... while she was completely unaware of his presence. The lack of respect for her privacy and his patronising attitude killed my liking stone dead. I carried on reading the series though until a short way through the third book when I just put it down and somehow couldn't quite be bothered to pick it back up again.

piebald · 28/04/2011 22:28

I am 48 and have avoided picking them up as an (older) friend read and really enjoyed them and whilst i love a good book i try to avoid unputdownable as life tends to fall apaart around them.
I have been led to believe that loads of older readers have enjoyed them

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 28/04/2011 22:46

They allow you to be 15 again and make u very reminiscent of easier times. Beware though they made me question my (quite boring & vanilla) relationship with DH
Prompted me to get back into contact with old bf
TBF old bf was always a great friend and I'm glad I now have him in my life again (as a friend) but had a few very confusing months before being sure again of DH

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 28/04/2011 22:48

If you've got iBooks I recommend:
The mating
The keeping
The finding
In that order they're all free and are also "dark romance" although werewolves not vamps

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 28/04/2011 23:31

THEY ARE ABSOLUTE, LOAD OF BADLY WRITTEN, PLOT DEFICIENT, TEDIOUS, DRIVEL!...

Sorry, was I shouting?...
Just about every vampire book I have ever read is better than these. And as for the messages it gives, my DD will NEVER be reading these books! EVER!

anonymosity · 29/04/2011 04:13

you are not alone at all.
The biggest audiences for the books and films fall into two categories

  1. girls around 15 yrs old
  2. women around 38+ yrs old.

I am also in category 2 - and I did the same, but equally as I became more familiar with the material, became more aware of its limitations.

I would like to read a version where Bella chooses Jacob and life over death.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 29/04/2011 16:00

I would like to read a version where they all burst into flames and disappear!

AyeRobot · 29/04/2011 16:03

Lessons from Twilight

Francesca123 · 29/04/2011 16:07

hi i'm new here but just seen this thread i'm 29 and have just read all the twilight books, i was totally hooked on them - Team Edward

Maud2011 · 29/04/2011 20:40

Saggyoldclothcatpuss I sympathise with your opinion and your concern re. the messages Twilight sends but please don't stop your DD from reading them... if you ban them, I'm almost certain she WILL read them, she'll just chuck them under the duvet and pretend to be reading something she thinks you'll approve of when she hears your feet on the stairs! If she reads them with your knowledge and (however reluctant) consent then at least you can discuss them with her and explain why you find them objectionable.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 29/04/2011 21:44

Nah, DD is not likely to want to read them, she is very academic, but books are lost on her. And dont worry, we discuss EVERYTHING! Grin

weimy · 29/04/2011 21:58

do you mean fiction is lost on her?

CestTout · 29/04/2011 22:06

25- love them. Waiting for next film in Nov!

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 29/04/2011 22:09

Not just fiction, she just isnt a big reader. Very clever, excellent grades, just doesnt read for pleasure. disappointed Smile

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 29/04/2011 22:14

I can't wait for the next movie, but DC2 is due 4weeks before it comes out I'll be BFing u think I can take baby to cinema in a sling?

evilgiraffe · 29/04/2011 23:55

Obsessed, you say? Come on over to the TSA threads, we will welcome you with open arms!

Mrsfluff · 30/04/2011 00:01

I loved them, as did my 10yr old DD. The True Blood books are ace as well.
