It's on Kindle. But at £10.99 it breaks my Kindle rule of not buying things that cost excessive amounts.

They have me over a barrel.

MayorNaze · 01/04/2011 16:37

oh read faster you lot

i have Things To Say

Babieseverywhere · 01/04/2011 16:38

BlingLoving just buy it, you can be reading it in 30 seconds

Babieseverywhere · 01/04/2011 16:40

I'll try my best I have an essay to write this weekend, so reading time is limited...that said it is Friday and I could have a beer and book night just for me early bedtime I think.

BlingLoving · 01/04/2011 16:40

Babies - you are bad. I'm buying it. It's your fault. And as I never bought hard covers except for these, I may as well continue the tradition of paying over the odds.

(and frankly, whoever at Amazon came up with the strategy must be very very popular over there now. I always spent a lot of money with them but now... sigh. Money comes in. bills get paid. And then really, I should just hand over the rest of my cash to Amazon).

Babieseverywhere · 01/04/2011 16:43

He He. Glad to help. :)

The only reason I don't hand my wage over to Amazon is I don't currently have one, once I return to work I will send my wage straight to Amazon.

MayorNaze, No spoilers but tell us, is it good ?

MayorNaze · 01/04/2011 16:50

[grin

MosEisley · 01/04/2011 19:42

So which of the books do you like best so far? Which least? And how does no. 6 compare?

My order is:
1
3 & 2 equal
5
4 - found this one tedious tbh. Whole sections of text seemed to be cut and pasted.

Haven't started 6 yet - will do tonight.

AnnieLobeseder · 01/04/2011 19:45

Hmmmm, I think I stopped after 3 or 4 cos I couldn't find the next one, but I have occasionally pondered making the effort to start the series up again. With a new book out, I guess now is a good time!

MayorNaze · 01/04/2011 20:15

1 2 and 3 are good

think i actually like 2 best

4 ok

5 meh

i do get the urge to weave baskets and gather random plants after reading these

jondalar is a bit of girl really isn't he? huge member aside of course

he is a norty norty boy in no 6, you'd never believe it Shock

MayorNaze · 01/04/2011 20:48

oh come on read quicker

40 copies were reserved in my waterstones

someone else must have nearly finished

LydiaTeapot · 01/04/2011 20:55

Finished it (on Kindle)

It's quite meh really, you can tell she didn't really want to bother finishing off the series.

MayorNaze · 01/04/2011 20:59

oh at last

yes i agree

is a real shame

it nearly got good with the outlaws

but the bit with marona was just crap

and OMG how many caves??? how many??? i'm all for the art, but honestly...

LydiaTeapot · 01/04/2011 21:04

She didn't develop the characters at all, in fact A&J behave out of character in that last section, both of them.

The whole book is disjointed and endlessly repetitive. We know how to make tea now, and how Wolf greets people, we don't need to be told.

If you hated Shelters of Stone you won't like this any better.

MayorNaze · 01/04/2011 21:06

before she was through
her children loved too

YES WE KNOW

LydiaTeapot · 01/04/2011 21:10

I didn't hate it though, I read the whole thing without skipping bits (tempting though it was in the caves section)

It was just a bit disappointing.

MayorNaze · 01/04/2011 21:13

oh i agree totally, actually, i was just venting in relief that someone else had read it Grin

it was just annoying to keep reading and reading "cave...tea...wolf....horses...zelandoni...cave...tea...wolf...horses...zelandoni"

not very well edited IMVHO

MosEisley · 01/04/2011 23:43

oh based on your posts, I am disappointed and I haven't even started no 6 yet. And now I have had too much Wine to bother with it tonight.

Was yummy wine. Almost as good as Marthona's Grin.

Will need a hangover Brew tomorrow morning... best potter off to the garden and collect some herbs in my otter skin pouch If only I had the medicinal knowledge not to poison myself.

MayorNaze · 02/04/2011 11:24

oh do read it

is worth a look

just don't expect The Answers to all your questions

and also expect the cave-man version of an art gallery tour. a detailed one Grin

tallulah · 02/04/2011 11:31

Only just started this one. Managed to get the book cover model thingy to work, but it was a bit of an anti-climax. Struggling to work out who everyone is- don't like these Zelandoni names Grin

MayorNaze · 02/04/2011 11:34

oh i couldn't be arsed with the book cover thingy

far far too much faff for me

tallulah · 02/04/2011 18:37

Oh dear. Now we've got to the disfunctional family who don't look after their kids. If they are like the DF in all the other books they'll be singing Ayla's praises ere long and standing up for her in the face of opposition from other Caves (yawn)

It seems to be the exact same story in a new setting. Another Summer Meeting as well. How original Hmm

MayorNaze · 02/04/2011 20:33

oh god the dysfunctional family

it will get much much worse

and icky
