Which one please? I'm really hoping this can be a new love of mine, I fancy something genuinely enjoyable...

Thanks

Regency Buck or the Grand Sophy to start...but dammit, they are pretty much ALL fantastic !

Cotillion is hilarious as are Sylvester and Arabella. Venetia is v.romantic in my opinion (Damerel anyone ?) Just. Get. Them. All.

There you are, the whole of MN will be along in a minute to tell you the same ! Grin

pinkhebe · 25/01/2011 09:55

I started with regency buck

specialsmasher · 25/01/2011 10:36

Thank you! Will start with Regency Buck. Quite excited. This could be a whole new world of pleasure...

RufousBartleby · 25/01/2011 10:41

I would second Regency Buck, but if you're after romantic historical fiction have you considered trying Diana Gabaldon? Oh my goodness its a whole world of (guilty!) reading pleasure Wink

talkingnonsense · 25/01/2011 10:42

The grand sophy! Or Fridays child.

Plumm · 25/01/2011 10:43

My faves are:

Sylvester
Arabella
Faro's Daughter (thinking about it, this one's my absolute favourite)

I hope you like them - there are loads to read!

pinkhebe · 25/01/2011 10:45

I can't choose a favourite [bgrin]

specialsmasher · 25/01/2011 10:46

I'm so glad there are loads - that's one of the reasons I'm excited as I'll have so much pleasure ahead of me!

Diana Gabaldon you say...

FreeButtonBee · 25/01/2011 10:50

No No Friday's Child is the best.

SilverBrumby · 25/01/2011 19:35

There's one for every mood. I second all of the above but These Old Shades is wonderful and then the joy of Devil's Cub.
The Convenient Marriage - also excellent - the Talisman Ring for a bit of intrigue and the fab Masqueraders. I could go on and on....
Enjoy!!!!!
Silvester also lovely.

SilverBrumby · 25/01/2011 19:38

Oops. Sylvester...!! Apparently the talking book of it is done by Richard Armitage....is it very wrong of me to buy it for -me- my mother in law in the hope she will give it back to me....?

BalloonSlayer · 25/01/2011 19:39

I am halfway through Regency Buck at the moment, it having been recommended on here, and I am finding it a bit boring. Blush

I am hoping it will get better in the second half.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 25/01/2011 19:40

Frederica - I love that one. And April Lady.
Venetia's great though.

Sossiges · 25/01/2011 19:44

Oooh you're so lucky, I wish I hadn't read them all already & could start from scratch EnvyGrin. I read The Black Moth first but they're all brilliant.
SilverBrumby Now that's the spirit! Good thinking, lass Grin

BalloonSlayer · 25/01/2011 19:44

I must add to my post above that every time Lord Worth says "You flatter me" I think of Rupert Campbell-Black and get a bit distracted.

Sossiges · 25/01/2011 19:49

Charity Girl would be the ideal one to start with, then if you should happen to find that you don't like it, you could pass it on to me (it's the only one I haven't got...Wink)

LadyDamerel · 25/01/2011 20:01

I started with Lady of Quality, which is great but so far Venetia, Black Sheep, Arabella, Frederica and Regency Buck are my top 5, although Devil's Cub is close to edging out Regency Buck.

I have blown most of the money I was given for Christmas on building up my GH collection. You have been warned. These Books Are Addictive [bgrin].

CMOTdibbler · 25/01/2011 20:03

Venetia, The Grand Sophy, and Frederica are my absolute faves

SarfEasticated · 25/01/2011 20:27

Excellent choices cut my own throat my faves too.

RufousBartleby · 25/01/2011 21:39

Yep - sorry to go off on a tangent, but Diana Gabaldon - 'Cross Stitch' is the first in the series. If you can suspend a bit of disbelief its almost ridiculously enjoyable :) Over 300 five star reviews on Amazon, so I can' be the only one...

specialsmasher · 26/01/2011 07:44

Wow! Thanks so much all. There really are tons of them, aren't there! I ordered Regency Buck yesterday - I hope you're a lone voice in the dark BalloonSlayer!

'ridiculously enjoyable' is just what I'm after...

Grin

Does anybody re-read, or are they strictly one-offers?

OP posts:
talkingnonsense · 26/01/2011 07:55

Re-read all of mine when I was feeding ds1, still reread some now, especially if am a bit down or ill, only trouble is I know them almost by heart now!

BellaBearisWideAwake · 26/01/2011 08:02

just read gran sophy, all good fun

i find that they are like a drug, you race towards to end for the inevitable spot of requited romance, give a big happy sigh, and then relax .... until you desperately want your next fix.

ebay helps

specialsmasher · 26/01/2011 08:42

Very excited! Should be devouring one by this time tomorrow...
