Hello. We just wanted to jump up and down in an excited way and draw your attention to the fab book freebie being offered to all Mumsnetters by Radox.

We know a fair few of you have claimed your free book already but there are still some left - and we didn't want anyone to miss out.

Just click on the link to find out more - and happy reading!

PS If you haven't claimed your book, can you tell us why? Is it because you're waiting for a different month to get the book you really want?

Thanks

I never have baths, just showers

when I have taken a bath, I've never been tempted to read there, don';t the pages get soggy?

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 29/11/2010 11:25

Thanks have claimed this months one as like others wanted the march one but will of forgot, ill give it to my mum, she reads anything, or give it as a xmas pressie to sil to make up for the crap she bought me last year Grin

CheeseCheese · 29/11/2010 11:25

it looks a SHITE book

mollyroger · 29/11/2010 12:04

I haven't claimed because I hate chicklit and I have already read History of Tractors. Reading isn't selfish to me, it is necessary.

FairyArmadillo · 29/11/2010 14:25

TheFoosa- pages don't get soggy. Keep a hand towel within reach for when your hands get wet. Read all of The Fellowship of the Ring during several long Lush baths, stretched over a few months.

If I were going to "be selfish" I wouldn't be with Radox. Not my cup of tea to be honest.

Eleison · 29/11/2010 14:40

DS2 and I are both prone to dropping our books in the bath every now and again, but they recover on the radiator to be fully readable, if rather mutated.

Worst thing about getting middle-aged is reading glasses that steam up in the bath.

nappyaddict · 29/11/2010 16:28

I filled in my details but haven't received anything?

Valpollicella · 29/11/2010 22:18

Nup, me neither Nappyaddict.

TheGrumpalo · 30/11/2010 07:20

I agree that there's nothing selfish about reading a book. Just the way that was worded has put me off from claiming the book. I love reading and think it's important for my children to see mummy enjoying books and hopefully that will encourage them to read loads too. I don't think for one minute that they think i'm being selfish for doing something that doesn't revolve around them!

Rant over! I'll keep getting my books in charity shops thank you very much.

TotalChaos · 30/11/2010 12:15

1)concept is irritating - like cleanliness and literacy are some sort of optional extra in a mother's life.

2)the selection is mostly rather uninspiring. now if they included Patrick Gale/William Boyd/Stuart Maconie -they would have flown...

AliceWorld · 01/12/2010 08:22

So we give radox some feedback, they continue to run the ad, the thread disappears from the top of the active screen, and they don't bother to respond at all to all the feedback people gave Hmm

So the PR department have a similar approach to the marketing department then Hmm

Eleison · 01/12/2010 08:47

Radox gets lots of keyword hits and even negative discussion ups the brand profile; MNHQ get the dosh from the sponsorship deal; everyone's happy.

Eleison · 02/12/2010 19:05

Brilliant book give-away here.

feelingfairlyfestive · 02/12/2010 19:56

I'm not too proud to take a free book, but I didn't receive the last one and a new one is now on offer. Has anyone actually received one yet?

elkiedee · 03/12/2010 12:33

I do read chicklit and most other genres and serious stuff too, but think it would have been nice to have more variety of books - I read the Jane Green years ago, have Under the Duvet and Tractors already.

teddies · 30/12/2010 19:52

If anyone wants the Jane Green one, I am happy to send mine on. PM me.

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 31/12/2010 23:27

I'm another person who loves to read, but hasn't claimed my free book because it all seems to be chicklit.I read constantly but wouldn't want to even bother with the selection offered. They seem very stereotypical and dull,as if us poor women can't tax our pretty little heads with reading about anything other than shopping, meeting the perfect man or gossiping.

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 31/12/2010 23:37

Thanks eleison, that is more like it.There is a great selection on your link.

jimswifein1964 · 03/04/2011 12:16

Can i pls ressurrect this thread to ask something? If I cast my mind back, it was always inferred that we could 'claim a free book' - admittedly, I didnt delve any deeper than looking through the choices and deciding the only one I wanted was April. I've gone to claim, and it turns out it's nor 'claim a free book', it's 'have a chance to win a book' . I'm very very Hmm, as there's very little chance I'll win. I probably just made it up in my own head based on phrases used by other mnetters on threads, but I was sure I was waiting till April to choose the one I wanted, and that the emphasis was on choosing not winning!

daimbardiva · 06/04/2011 16:25

I got the Adele Parks one and it was awful. Honestly. I never read chick lit, but thought I'd give it a go 'cos it was free, but it was terrible. Oh dear.
