Hello. We just wanted to jump up and down in an excited way and draw your attention to the fab book freebie being offered to all Mumsnetters by Radox.

We know a fair few of you have claimed your free book already but there are still some left - and we didn't want anyone to miss out.

Just click on the link to find out more - and happy reading!

PS If you haven't claimed your book, can you tell us why? Is it because you're waiting for a different month to get the book you really want?

Thanks

agree with the others. Whilst it's lovely to be offered something free, the books are not my cup of tea (other than the marian keyes, which I already have).

MinkyBorage · 26/11/2010 19:06

no thanks:

  1. selfish time crap
  2. radox crap
  3. End up on some shite mailing list and get loads of unwanted post/emails/phone calls
Lulumaam · 26/11/2010 19:08

claimed mine , but do agree it's a bit daft, selfish time, all those harried woman, just need a bubble bath and a nice easy book with big print and a happy ending, but it's FREEEEE!!

I have NO shame

tell me more about book crossing , belledechocchip!

sharbie · 26/11/2010 19:21

claimed mine a while ago - not recd here yet

DramaInPyjamas · 26/11/2010 19:24

None of them appeal to me really, that's why I didn't bothet to fill in the offer.

I have read the Marian Keyes one already, it was OK.

DramaInPyjamas · 26/11/2010 19:24

bother not bothet

(a free dictionary wouldn't be all that bad!)

BoffinMum · 26/11/2010 19:30

Sorry to look gift horse in the mouth, but I gave up reading stoopid chick lit about ten years ago. Particularly dislike the books of Jane Green. You would have to pay me to read one these days.

Indith · 26/11/2010 19:34

The books look like a load of rubbish with the exception of March so if I remember I'll come back and claim "A Short History is Tractors..." in March. I've read it before but I don't own it yet.

gailforce1 · 26/11/2010 19:37

Thank you, have claimed the Jane Green as I have not read her before but am not a huge fan of chicklit so will see how I get on!

SpeedyGonzalez · 26/11/2010 19:47

Well said, eliesion. Took one look at the book cover design and decided it was definitely not aimed at me. I may have post-natal sleep deprivation but my brain still enjoys a challenge.

Eleison · 26/11/2010 19:47

In fairness to the marketing geniuses that came up with this offer, the books do ram home the image of Radox very effectively. They promise some rich imaginative experience and deliver a concoction-by-numbers of cheap ingredients.

SpeedyGonzalez · 26/11/2010 19:51

My god, I've just clicked on the link and seen the rest of the books. Seriously, Radox marketing team? The only half-decent book is the Ukrainian one and even then I thought it was quite nice but it wasn't exceptional, IMO.

What a patronising book list.

SpeedyGonzalez · 26/11/2010 19:52

Inspired, eleison! Grin

domesticslattern · 26/11/2010 20:15

I haven't claimed because the books all look like the kinds of things which come free with magazines. In fact, at least one of them has (the Jane Fallon one- didn't that come with Red a while back? I read a tiny bit of it and then gave up...).

Radox marketing team- have you ever asked MNetters what their book group is reading? You'd get very different answers to the books you are plugging. Though it is of course very nice of you to offer us free books. Smile

MouldyMoldie · 26/11/2010 20:30

Agree that the books aren't to my taste. I read a lot, and not very highbrow stuff (the Ukranian tractors one was ace), but I think you'd get a better response if you chose the kind of books they do on the Richard and Judy list, iykwim?!

(Not meaning to offend anyone, btw, esp. not the authors. )

Haven't claimed it because I have read it about 400 times.

smokinaces · 26/11/2010 20:48

I didnt know about it, have claimed it and glad I did as I have already read the next 3 months worth anyway, and the others dont interest me.

Is it sad I'm going to put it under the Christmas Tree as my present to myself?!

hocuspontas · 26/11/2010 20:49

I get so depressed looking at the covers of books like these. They are just Mills and Boon crap re-worked for the 21st century. I resent being thought of as someone who will enjoy them. (Tractors excepted)

Grump over

FairyArmadillo · 26/11/2010 21:03

I don't like chick lit and the only one that would have interested me (History of Tractors) is one that I've enjoyed already.

BoffinMum · 26/11/2010 21:06

Radox always gives me thrush, anyway.

LittlePushka · 26/11/2010 21:14

MNHQ - not claimed because (with the exception of the Ukranian tractor - which I have read) they all seem to be about women dealing with matters of the heart and personal relationships in contemprary setting - or variations on that theme. I get that from my friends on a weekly basis!!! For me, it is the very last topic I would want to read about.

Now if you'd had a good historical novel (the new CJ Sansom) or a political thriller or poetry or an autobiography/biography,..well then that would be an eye turner.
