I got a message on my app this week saying that changes are coming to the plan - I only use online, but wondered if anyone had any insight from meetings? I'm just about to do an online food shop and if point values are changing that may impact what I buy and my menu plan for the week!

Can I ask about how dailies and weeklies are recalculated? I ask as I have just left WW (was on 32 daily and 42 weekly) because I wasn't able to attend meetings. Want to know how many us get under the flex system as may re-sign (eat a lot of chicken and eggs!)

LaGattaNera · 16/11/2017 20:09

sorry I don't know the answer to your question, I only know what I now get but I was on 30 dailies and 28 weeklies before, now same weeklies and 23 dailies.

justkeeponsmiling · 16/11/2017 20:41

Hmm so after trying this for the past few days I think I might have to revise my initial assessment. As a vegetarian, it turns out I have been eating a lot of the 0 point proteins already - lots of eggs, lentils, beans, quorn etc. So now, eating more or less exactly the same as before, I seem to have quite a few points left at the end of the day. In fact, I think I have been eating more than before and still have points left. It will be very interesting to see if I have actually lost any weight - I'm doubtful but if I have then I'm a flex point convert!

JJforever · 16/11/2017 21:26

I'm still liking it - assuming it is a loss on the scales that is! I think changing it up a bit has been good for me. However my weeklies are accumulating and I now have 50 to use (I get 42 anyway) since tuesday. I dont want to eat/drink wine for the sake of it and am sure I will make a huge dent in them over the weekend, but am sceptical that using so many will still result in a loss

I increased my protein three weeks ago and have consumed quite a lot less fitpoints over those weeks, than I did previously. I have found that the increased protein has left me feeling fuller for longer and I am not needing to snack/pick anywhere near as much. So the new plan change this week is suiting me and I am really enjoying it. Currently I have had points rolled over each day. Weeklies are untouched. Usually my weeklies are starting to run a little low at this point. When I eat out, I can keep my breakfast at zero, but feel full and keep the eve meal lower too. I will be dipping into my weeklies at the weekend, but not sure by how much. I shall wait to see what results I get on the scales over the next few weeks...

Iamdobby63 · 17/11/2017 09:28

I think people will lose weight following it and any changes puts you firmly back into diet mode, if that makes sense.

I’m trying, but I don’t think it will be sustainable for me in the long run, I need to eat a few ready meals in the week and I’m feeling like I shouldn’t be and it’s not giving a positive mental attitude.

When they already have No Count I just can’t fathom why change SP. I know the plans are slightly different... but not by a huge amount.

rosiecam · 17/11/2017 13:25

Yes, the ready meals thing is like the baked beans thing. Really they should go through all those foods and reduce the points to take into account the ingredients that are now zero (as SW does). But that's a huge amount of work involving discussions with every food manufacturer in the country, so if it happens at all it's only likely to be when they decide to stop changing things every couple of years ...

I suppose you could estimate it for yourself if you eat the same things a lot. Like if you have a chicken breast dinner. Open it up, weigh the chicken breast, work out what points that used to be (it was 2 points for 100g) and subtract them from the points value of the dinner ... perhaps life is too short though!

rosiecam · 17/11/2017 13:30

That makes me think it's worth keeping the old book so we'll know what the points used to be.

justkeeponsmiling · 17/11/2017 13:34

rosie I think the reason is that WW have said they have only lowered the points or set them to zero when it comes to foods you are less likely to overeat. This is why, for example, they have made plain low fat yoghurt 0 points now but have left flavoured low fat ones the same. Ditto with beans - throwing a handfull of butterbeans into my stew to bulk it up and increase protein is surely less fattening that eating, say, a tin of baked beans.

justkeeponsmiling · 17/11/2017 13:35

Sorry, that's a bit garbled!

Iamdobby63 · 17/11/2017 14:33

rosiecam To be fair they have gone through and reduced the chicken and fish ready meals. As for the yogurts I have since discovered that it’s only fat free natural yogurt that is zero, low fat natural is still pointed.

I’m going to wait until after the weekend to decide but I’m probably going to cancel my membership, I’m trying to make it work but it really doesn’t suit me. I batch cook to freeze when I can but the rest of the time cooking different recipes for one doesn’t always work so I also use ready meals.

When I signed up for weight watchers they asked if I loved to cook or if I brought ready meals, with my reply they suggested SP rather than no count.....

Smudge100 · 19/11/2017 13:44

I liked it as it was before. I don’t think large quantities of animal protein are particularly good for you, so i don’t see myself eating chicken breasts and scrambled eggs. But i’ve lost 7 points which i would normally ‘spend’ on things i do like. It’s becoming less flexible and more like Slimming World in my view.

Iwanttobe8stoneagain · 19/11/2017 21:39

With a fish and egg allergy the changes weren’t for me, measures my 23 points one day had used it by lunch and equated to 623 calories. My usual 30 points I used by the end of the day was 1200 which I understand is the recommended minimum. Using my fitness pal is great. Find I can neat what I was eating before 100% flexibility, very easy to find out calories also has great barcode scanner. It saves £21 per month😁. I was really angry when they changed the plan to be based largely on common allergens, now I’m really glad. Lost 2lbs in less than a week

justkeeponsmiling · 20/11/2017 14:21

Ok so I've lost 2lbs. This is despite going over my points by 5 points Alcohol Blush but I don't count my fitpoints). I feel like I have eaten quite a bit more than previously and have definitely been feeling fuller. But bar one slice of toast every morning I have had no pure carbs. So I agree with pp, flex points seem to be a great way to lose weight but as to sustainability once I've reached my target the verdict is still out.

JJforever · 21/11/2017 06:27

I've lost 3lbs - which also included going totally off piste on Saturday night (although I think my weeklies should've covered within the end. Probably!) So I'm happy with that and think for me it will be quite sustainable as is it based on food I eat a lot of anyway so I'm not going hungry at all and am finding myself with points to play with.

However, I wouldn't like to be points down when I stop breastfeeding so hopefully I'll be maintaining by then

Well done on the losses. I think this is sustainable for me longer term, more so than the SPs plan was. I did think I would have to switch to no Count in the longer term, but this gives me the best of both plans, tolled into one. I am still eating carbs and eating out, whilst feeling more full, so snacking, craving and picking less.

sez49 · 21/11/2017 11:01

‘rolled into one’ is what I meant to say!

luvmabub · 12/12/2017 15:32

I just started ww on Sunday and finding Flex ok
How are you getting on now after a few weeks ? Is it still working for you ? 🤔

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 26/12/2017 19:04

Over considered re joining after I gave up last year. Is there still a no count plan? That's the only thing I could stick to last year. Doesn't sound like flex would work for me as I love carbs!
