I got a message on my app this week saying that changes are coming to the plan - I only use online, but wondered if anyone had any insight from meetings? I'm just about to do an online food shop and if point values are changing that may impact what I buy and my menu plan for the week!

Iamdobby63 in which case why not just stick with the old system if it's working for you? No point getting stressed trying to fix something that isnt broken!

I've just cancelled my online membership. If I wanted free foods I'd do SW. My points have been reduced dramatically and I'm not going to eat enough of the new free food to compensate. I've downloaded another WW app and I'll use that instead

Iamdobby63 · 14/11/2017 16:15

JJforever Yes that’s what I’m doing but it’s the psychological impact that as I’m logging my points online I’m going over, therefore feeling guilty and like a failure. I know it’s stupid but it’s how it’s making me feel, if I feel the same way tomorrow then I need to do something as it’s stupid to continue like this.

Another problem with continuing tracking points as if I’m on the old plan is that the points are adjusted in many meals so would actually be having more calories each day. Maybe I’m thinking too deeply into it.

LaGattaNera · 14/11/2017 16:23

I am a long time member and a goldie but do not like the changes as losing points only to be compensated by a load of free foods, most of which I do not eat - the meat and fish and can't survive on 23 and only live on plain pulses, eggs & plain tofu (I don't eat quorn). Many of the free foods are expensive eg most fish & chicken breast & chicken breast mince are all dear.
I now think the SW plan is better to be honest - even on WW no count it's all brown rice, brown pasta, brown couscous - so long as you aren't filling up on Mullerlights & Mugshots on SW as those are pretty much junk foods. Do find the SW meetings boring though.
Loved propoints, found Smartpoints restrictive enough and like others on here, feel flat about Flex - at best I see it as a temporary thing to get the weight off but long term I don't think it is sustainable. At least on 30 SPs you had more points to make wider choices - understand for some that Flex is better - largely depends on what you eat and if you dare want a WW ready meal, many of those are 10-12 points!

Littlepond · 14/11/2017 17:29

I'm really unhappy. Today I have eaten exactly the same as yesterday but I have 3 points left for dinner rather than 10. that means I can put chicken into my planned veg curry but I can't really have any rice.

I've always liked the flexibility of being to eat whatever was in the house and now I've got a set list I need to "try and base my meals around". I've basically lost a whole meal (7 points) and there is no way I'd ever eat 7 (old) points worth of the new zero foods. I'm really gutted here is no way to continue on the app with the old way - it works for me and I can stick to it but losing a whole meal worth of points every day is gutting.

Redglitter · 14/11/2017 20:39

Littlepond There are other apps which will allow you to continue with the old system

I don't know what they're thinking with this change. If I want free no counting good I'd do SW. Oh well I'm saving the monthly membership fee now & I told them.why I was cancelling

justkeeponsmiling · 14/11/2017 21:13

@Redglitter are there? Where can I find them? Can you recommend one please? I'm really disheartened today, same as others have said - I will not make up the loss of 7 points with free food. I'm sitting here tonight feeling hungry and grumpy - ready to cancel my membership!

stayhomeclub · 14/11/2017 21:25

I am not very impressed to be honest, loads of random bits of seafood added into to make it sound like a wide variety of foods are free. Chicken and fish are expensive too.

I think the reduction in points is too large to compensate for the rather narrow list of zero value foods.

You can't base your whole life eating chicken, eggs and seafood. I get that it's about encouraging better choices but the key to long term weight loss is embedding good habits, not being too restrictive.

Redglitter · 14/11/2017 21:53

@justkeeponsmiling I've downloaded Ultimate Food Diary Values.

So far so good. I've paid for the Premium version which is £1.99 a month. It seems to have a good data base & scanner. Gets really good reviews

justkeeponsmiling · 14/11/2017 22:10

@Redglitter that's great thank you! I'm going to have a look at that one.

stevie69 · 15/11/2017 09:15

We went through the new plan last night in class. I think it's going to work amazingly well for me Smile I eat LOTS of fish, quorn, chicken (if I have to), eggs, low fat natural yoghurt and so on. It'll mean I can do virtually zero points on my main meals and then use my points for treats if I need them. For me, that'll be meals out (I LOVE eating out) the odd packet of crisps and a protein shake on training days.

I'm at goal weight now and this new plan will make it easier for me to stay right where I want to be. Yaaay Grin

Wilma55 · 15/11/2017 10:37

There are a quite a few enthusiastic and encouraging posts on the FB page so I'm going to try it for a few weeks and seeasy how it goes. Maybe a very low point day followed by one using the saved up points?

FluffyMcCloud · 15/11/2017 12:51

I have never bothered counting fit points but I think I will have to start! I have my fit bit synced but I never eat the points. I think I shall start doing so!

Iamdobby63 · 15/11/2017 13:02

Redglitter Thank you, I will have a look.

Can I ask anyone who has done no count exactly what you have to point please?

LaGattaNera · 15/11/2017 13:41

On no count, anything that is not on the list (which is obviously expanded now following the new additions above) everything must be pointed. You only have your weeklies for this. You can also do one day on no count and one on points. If you are now on eg 23 dailies on Flex rather than 30 on SPs, you can save up to 4 on the days that you do no count and then add them to your weeklies ie point for 3 days and save 4 a day gives you 12 extra weeklies - went to my class earlier and this was confirmed.

LaGattaNera · 15/11/2017 13:42

hope my slightly garbled reply makes sense.

Iamdobby63 · 15/11/2017 15:21

LaGattaNera It does, thanks for all the info. The link takes me to the US shop (liking the look of some of those items). Will have a look on the UK site but I guess its pretty much all the same, the weeklies would be the same as on counting?

I just can’t see the benefit of the change really, it really is far less flexible for me.

I may have mentioned this before but I am resentful that baked beans and fat free fruit yogurt aren’t reduced in points and neither are fish and chicken that have a low fat marinade.

Wonder how this will play out for the WW merchandise, surely people will buy fewer snack and yogurt items.

LaGattaNera · 15/11/2017 16:41

hi yes weeklies same as before - eg I get 28

Well if every is eating chicken eggs tofu etc they'll have tons of dailies for the WW snacks lol

do PM me if you need any more info

totally agree - think SW pips WW on this plus SW white pasta white rice white noodles white couscous etc are free - all pointed on WW unless following no count in which only brown are zero.

Leader told us she saves 4 a day to carry over to weekend to add to her weeklies, that she lives on 19 a day plus zero foods and lost 5 pounds in her first week..............

LaGattaNera · 15/11/2017 16:42

Coach, I mean.

Iamdobby63 · 15/11/2017 16:59

Thanks very much.

Yes I can see that you could lose a fair amount of weight but I wonder how quickly people will get sick of chicken and eggs. I was successful on Atkins but after a time I wanted to eat regular type foods whilst still losing weight. Sadly I can’t get excited about the beans, pulses and natural yogurt, wish I could.

LaGattaNera · 15/11/2017 17:06

Totally agree! I see it as a means to lose weight - I'm six years at goal - but unlike propoints which I got to goal on and which I loved, I don't think this new Flex is sustainable long term for maintaining.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?????? lol

Also on SW, cottage cheese, quark are both free not just natural fat free yog - again a bigger variety I feel.

poorpaws · 15/11/2017 23:26

I got to goal in Feb 2012 on pro points too, I really think they were the best.

I eat a lot of chicken but I’m no too sure flex will work for me either.

rosiecam · 16/11/2017 16:03

LaGattaNera that's interesting about your leader because I thought you were only allowed to save four points total, not four points a day! I might try that. But then I'll end up with a lot more treats. Not sure that's the idea ...

For those who are saying chicken breast is expensive, try frozen. Currently £4 for 1kg in Tesco - that is a special offer but I think it's only £4.75 normally.

LaGattaNera · 16/11/2017 18:10

roseicam that is definitely what she said - she saves 4 a day for booze at the weekend so I guess that takes her weeklies from 28 to 56 plus 23 dailies at weekend plus all the zero food

Have to say not something I would do, I don't think my body would actually like all those points over just 2 days and also I guess you really need a Friday weigh in to ensure you don't have a food mountain in your stomach at weigh in.
