@Catcatcatcatcat Well done! Brilliant! It feels so good when clothes start to loosen and gives you a good incentive for next week.

Hello ladies! New poster here…I’ve massively fallen off the wagon since Christmas and I’m kicking myself at yet another summer feeling like a blob. I’ve read through this thread and seems like such a friendly and supportive place so hoping this will help me with accountability.

It’s probably been about 8 years since I’ve been at my goal weight, I’ve mostly just lost and gained the same few pounds. I did lose two stone last year in the run up to my sister’s wedding last summer. I’ve gained a stone since Christmas and I’ve decided enough is enough. I’m going on my first holiday abroad since lockdown in November so I need a massive kick up the bum!!

so today is my day 1
breakfast - fasted
lunch - smoked salmon and lightest Philadelphia on two ryvita crisp breads, salad and kimchi
snack - strawberry protein yoghurt and some blueberries
dinner - steak stirfry with lots of veggies and soy sauce
exercise - 3 mile walk (Leslie sansone workout)

Sounds like a good week for lots of you well done @poorpaws @Zebracat and @Catcatcatcatcat

Welcome aboard @Startingoverinmy30s I'm sure you'll fit right in.

I've more or less stayed the same weight this week again which I've come to terms with as it was birthday week followed by a few days of feeling pretty rough. Seem to pick up every bug going. Still firmly under the 15 stone barrier though which I'm happy with.

NSV though - I went rock climbing with the family at the weekend for the first time in probably 15 years. I used to go quite a lot but haven't since gaining weight for obvious reasons. I didn't do as much as I could have because I'm a massive wimp and am super scared of heights so every time I got to the top I panicked and really struggled to let go.

But I did it. And more to the point I was actually able to do it. I hoisted all 94.5kg of myself up to the top of the climbing wall 3 times. I didn't ache the next day and was physically capable of more if not mentally!

Ooh and I bought some leggings from Tesco in size 16-18 / L. I'm officially only Large not extra large! 🥳

August target is probably going to be to maintain but if I manage to get a few pounds off I'll be pleased. Longer term I'd love another stone by Christmas. In fact. I want to be "overweight" by Christmas instead of obese. I need to lose exactly 10kg for that. So 22 lbs. That's my challenge. 2kg a month from now would do it.

Hello everyone 👋🏼 👋🏼 👋🏼

i am so happy to find this thread thriving, motivating and supporting everyone! Can I rejoin you? I was one of your regular posters who disappeared into a puff of smoke earlier this year... combination of sick children and work pressure and generally one of the down times on life's rollercoaster meant I didn't really feel able to communicate with anyone... but I'm back and ready to track!

⭐️ ❤️

Congrats on the rock climbing and the leggings @effiesgoldwig 🎉

poorpaws · 01/08/2023 13:43

@Startingoverinmy30s Welcome, I hope you enjoy your time with us, we're a very friendly bunch.

@triplecheeese this is so strange you might not believe it but I've been thinking of you a lot this week and was going to mention you here. I'm absolutely delighted to have you back.

For newer members @triplecheeese was my diet twin right at the beginning. We were the same height, the same weight and had the same goal weight. She smashed it and did so well, got to a healthy BMI and then left. I, on the other hand, yo-yoed as usual and didn't smash it (but I am still here). So what do you weigh now @triplecheeese, have you gained? I would smile if you were 10st 12lbs like me 😁. Anyway I am thrilled to little mint balls to welcome you back with open arms 💕

Have a good Tuesday everyone. I went food shopping this morning and I've started a budget because I spend far too much so I'm hoping my salad shopping lasts the week.

@effiesgoldwig how could I forget you! I'm so very impressed with the rock climbing and the leggings, great news, so a massive well done.

I've just had a NSV on my dog walk. I saw a lady I used to see a lot and used to walk with but who I haven't actually seen for about six months. The first question she asked was had I lost weight whoop-whoop!

I think I'm on a bit of a high today.

Just checking in from holiday…. Today I’ve tried to rein in my constant excessive eating and we’re not drinking today which will help. I feel quite bloated! Problem is, weather is crap and everywhere we go involves some sort of coffee/cake!

tomorrow I’m running first thing, then painting pottery, then hopefully the sun will come out if forecast is accurate and we’ll get to the beach. I’ve got salad and have made some couscous and a few other bits.

i’m already starting to mentally plan my big detox 😂

triplecheeese · 01/08/2023 19:33

Hooray!!! Hi @poorpaws my determined friend! I was trying to play it cool but I'm soooooo excited to be back. It makes all the late night magnums even more worth it 😂 Congrats on your fabulous NSV. I've missed a lot of dog updates. I'll have to scroll back.

I did manage to get down to the magical 63.5kg which is 9st 13.9999999. Then life did its thing and now I'm 10st 8 😂 so here we go again!

It works for me to do one change a week and add them one at a time, rather than try to be sensible all the time then go to hell with it at the weekend (which then becomes a week becomes a month).

Last week I exercised 4-5 times but ate my usual junk - no change in weight. This week I'm adding my next change which is only eating 7am-7pm. Was 10st 8 on Monday so let's see what happens next Monday 😬

poorpaws · 01/08/2023 19:46

Oh @triplecheeese you always manage to beat me, always! I've been struggling a lot, got down to 10st 10 lbs (I think) and then went crazy and galloped back well into the 11sts. I can't remember what weight we both started at but it's been very slow and difficult for me. Now you're back (and don't dare leave again) I shall renew my efforts and try to do better. Delighted you are here. We have some really good supportive people here, it's a lovely little community.

OP posts:
triplecheeese · 01/08/2023 20:12

I can't remember either now but we were in the 11s. At least being more conscious means you make healthier choices most of the time - you do much better than me with your nutrition! I need to get back to being more mindful about what I'm eating. I had the advantage of breastfeeding a hungry toddler back then but I've stopped now (tho im still eating as if I am) 😬

poorpaws · 01/08/2023 20:24

@triplecheeese yes I'm brilliant with nutrition, especially today 😱. I ate vanilla cheesecake (base had nuts and coconut added) with a blackberry coulis thrown on top. It looks very ugly but it tasted good, very much better than salad 🤔. I'm really, really great with my healthy eating.

@poorpawsthat looks DELICIOUS. And now I'm regretting my no eating after 7pm 😂 😭

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/08/2023 20:59

@poorpaws oh that looks delicious 🤤 I love cheesecake, I’m the only one in my household that likes it so I never buy or bake it because I will eat the entire thing

TalkToTheHand123 · 01/08/2023 23:34

Hi all. I decided to randomly weigh myself this morning and had to check the scales a few times as it was saying I have dropped about 3lbs to a record low of 14.4 stone (haven't been at this weight for about 20 years). I did the usual spoiler by going to McDonald's and pigging out, but should be able to undo it over the next few days.

I'd had a few meals out recently, which could have had wiser selections (burgers, full English breakfasts, ice cream), so if I can plan and avoid these slip ups (if being the word), I may get to that 14 stone mark.

I plan to work at my fitness levels also as I'm realising how unfit I am.

poorpaws · 02/08/2023 07:39

@TalkToTheHand123 Well done doesn't seem enough, that's fantastic work. 20 years is such a long time, I bet you feel fantastic. Keep going, you have done brilliantly 👏

OP posts:
poorpaws · 02/08/2023 07:46

@thenewaveragebear1983 most of it is now in the freezer. I've checked the recipe and it can be frozen for up to 3 months (fat chance). I had one small piece but it's so tall (doesn't look it in the photograph) that it ended up being bigger than I thought but was really filling. I had it at lunch so cut back in the evening and I'm still on track I think. I'm not eating any more of it until September 😁

That’s amazing! You must absolutely fantastic! Well done! 🥳

I think my weight at the end of the week will be low but only because I’ve been vomiting and not eating for the 36 hours.

I went to a Turkish restaurant on Monday evening and I think it’s fair to say that something didn’t agree with me…..

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/08/2023 08:26

@poorpaws that’s serious willpower.

I did an interesting exercise yesterday, in prep for my relaunch when I return from holiday. I just sat with my notebook and wrote down all the meals I like/enjoy (that fit with my goals. Obvs 🙄) and it was actually amazing how many really nice, simple things I have made that i just forgot about. Considering I really feel like I’m in a rut with menus sometimes, it shows there are actually loads of things I could make. I’m going to use that list to write my menu and shopping list for next week.

it’s still cool and windy here, dh and I are dividing and he’s taking one dc and I’m taking the other for some indoor activities this morning. I’m just finishing my coffee and working up the energy to go out for a run. I didn’t drink last night so, while I felt like I struggled to sleep, I actually did sleep better and woke naturally in the middle of a crazy dream at 7.40, so I feel really well rested.

I’m staying at my mums place here in Devon and she had a dusty old pair of scales so I, of course, stepped on this morning and weighed in at 11.4, which is only a 1.5lb gain so I am actually not too horrified by that. Let’s just ignore the fact that these scales have literally zero calibration to my home scales AT ALL and therefore i have absolutely no way of knowing what i actually weigh in relation to at home… I could have gained a stone for all I know, and they are no more accurate than if I asked someone in the street what they thought I weighed….

anyway. Have a great day all

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/08/2023 08:27

@MyTruthIsOut sorry you have been unwell, food poisoning is the worst isn’t it?

Theredjellybean · 02/08/2023 08:27

Welcome back @triplecheeese
And huge well done to @TalkToTheHand123
I'm stuck at 71 kgs this week
But dsd home for few days so I've had a bit (a lot) of snacks with her that I would not normally eat. I try to just have tiny bit of ice cream or whatever to give her support...but did neck half tub of Ben and Jerry's and half bottle of wine yesterday....sigh ....

Theredjellybean · 02/08/2023 08:30

But @thenewaveragebear1983 I followed you tips for after running this week.
Usually I run very early in the morning but died to weather I went later. So I ate a tiny bowl of porridge an hr before about 11am. Then ran 10 miles and on return ate a plain chicken breast and drank two pints of squash pretty much straight away and I was fine until dinner
..none of the usual "naw my fist off" hunger...thanks will continue to eat protein after run...

Zebracat · 02/08/2023 08:58

Morning. That cheesecake! I’m doing really well at present except yesterday I ate almost a whole bag of toffee popcorn. I just couldn’t stop. I’ve started walking. Aiming for 3000 steps today and planning to increase that as I get stronger. I thought my sleep had improved but it’s got really bad again. I’m trying not to let knowing there’s a link between disrupted sleep and weight gain derail me.
Welcome back to @triplecheeese . @effiesgoldwig , so pleased you climbed that wall, I remember months ago you cancelled climbing, you’ve come so far! And to those with unexpected losses, or less gain than expected just enjoy it.

triplecheeese · 02/08/2023 23:02

There's a thread on everyone's favourite shop bought ice creams that I just fell into and now I'm dying for a Mint Magnum. Late night at work this evening but still managed to not eat after 7... even though I'm sure the kids have got some good ice creams in the freezer...

@TalkToTheHand123 Congrats on the scale victory!!!

hello @Zebracat @Theredjellybean @thenewaveragebear1983 it's lovely to be back on and see your updates! This will keep me away from the ice cream threads

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/08/2023 08:32

Morning all… @triplecheeese i saw that ice cream thread as well, I love ice cream <sigh>

still on holiday, weather still shit. We went out for a meal last night and it was expensive stodgy pub food, my stomach was churning all evening. Disappointing. I realised late in the day that I hadn’t taken my magnesium so I took it, however I didn’t anticipate it would keep me awake so I tossed and turned with my stomach churning and my mind in total overdrive. Not nice.

I’m not going to run this morning, but I am going to do some simple yoga stretches and breathing, my legs are really tight and aching from all the walking and running. Despite the grim weather we are braving the beach today, my dc want to go in the sea with their body boards so dh and I are going to have to brave the waves.

I’m quite looking forward to getting home on Saturday pm. I feel very unhealthy. My anxiety/peri is not great right now and I know that better sleep, better food, less/no alcohol will help me immeasurably.

Ledochas · 03/08/2023 10:08

@thenewaveragebear1983 also on holiday and feel your pain. Keep ending up with the best worst choice but they're all bad really.
