I have finally been shamed to get off my lardy arse and to start that diet I have been promising to do. I have a good friends wedding in 3 weeks and have found a skirt to wear that needs about 7 - 10lbs off, and we are going on holiday in 9 weeks. So the plan is a food diary and any suport - or feel free to ignore me! I am going to do different things as and when I feel liek it, but this week is calorie counting and a food diary. Approx 1200 cals plus 1/2 pt ss milk (unsure cals in that!)

So here goes

Breakfast 2 weetabix 129 cals (milk from allowence)
Lunch Big bowl salad 50cals, 100g prawns 77 cals, dressing 15 cals
Snack Melon and grapes 100 cals
Dinner tonight Ready meal (under 350 cals) massive bag of veggies 150 cals, Muller lite 115 cals
Leaves me with 200 cals for whatever

I decided to be really lazy and buy some ready meals that are already counted and bags of veg (kids are at childminders so no worries there) then I have MY food and know exactly what I can have

Wish me luck

Perhaps i should try the tapping

Today I didn't have those cravings and I kept to the diet all day, however I went out this evening and didn't have much choice in what to eat. I tried to stick as best as possible to 'good' stuff but I have no idea how to even guess the calories I guess that i sthe problem with this, anytime you are not able to add up calories you are stuffed

Any how back on with the plan tomorrw, I have a fridge full of ready meals, and one more week until the wedding. 6 More weeks until holiday. Hopefully I'll lose another lbs or 2 by the wedding and then the next 1/2 stne befoe the holiday. If I can do that I'll be back ino my clothes

I've just read your thread Kayleigh about the Paul McKenna CD/Book. It sounds really interesting and perhaps I should try this. I ALWAYS wolf my food, and I am sure that's one of my problems I can do really well all the time, except when I get those awful cravings. I cannot be the only person who gets them. I KNOW I am not hungry, it is probably an emotional thing, or perhaps a habit.

Anyway today I had a latte and 1/2 a teacake for breakfast (milk allowence and I'll allow 100 cals for the teacake - maybe more!) Lunch I had home-made coleslaw (1/2 low fat mayo, 1/2 low fat yoghurt) but no idea what cals, I guess a tbsp of low fat mayo is at least 100 cals, so 200 in total. Stuffed peppers with veg/breadcrumbs and low fat mozzarella. I'll guess another 250 - 300 cals.

So we are at about 660 cals

One spoon of ice-cream (30 cals) and I've got lods for dinner

Hiya Crunchie - glad to see you are doing so well. I have those cravings too. Last night was ridiculous. dp called on way home from work to say do you want a takeaway. I was super good and said no. 10 minutes later i called him back. 30 minutes later i'm stuffing my face with chow mein and lemon chicken

I really need help to stop the cravings too.

I had hoped so!! - I should have said that i'd already had some filled pasta and tinned tomatoes for dinner

crunchie · 17/04/2005 17:25

Well today we went outto lunch and I had a lovely vegetable cobbler and salad (plus dd's carrots) and a raspberry pavalova with cream for pud yummy. However I hadn't had breakfast and I did lods of active stuff today like cleaning the house, gardening and helping dh sort out the pond. So I know I used up loads of calories.

For diner if I stick to the plan, then I'll be doing OK I think. Every mouthful was really worth it too

OK seem to be over the hump of the weekend, but evenings are going to get harder as DH is going to be working every night for the next few weeks. Home Alone with only the biscuit tin for company

Anyway I went to the gym today 15 mins powerwalk and 15 mins x-trainer = 424 cals!!

Also I have now lost 3kgs or 6.6lbs I am on course to have lost my 1st half stone in time for teh wedding this Sat. Then 7lbs more before my holiday 5 weeks later!! Very doable, but not too much of a target that if I fall off the wagon I still can make it

So far I have had weetabix, prawn salad and strawberries and my tummy is rumbling Even if I were doing Paul McKenna I wouldn't be able to eat as I have no food here I have my ready meal and veg awaiting and some thai bits for when I get in

Maybe I'll switch diets soon as I am finding counting a pain in the a**

OK Monday was fine, Tuesday was not so good I found myself having just bought the Paul McKenna Book/CD sitting in Tesco's carpark reading the book, stuffing my face with bread I mean it was funny really However good news was I wasn't hungry later and had my planned prawn salad for supper instead

So now I am on a mixture of Paul McKenna and calorie counting (only becasue I have got a pile of ready meals to finish) But I am going to try to eat VV slowly, chew my food properly and enjoy it and only eat when I am hungry. Having a glass of water if I am not sure It is the first book that I have ever read that give you practical and helpful advice to stop cravings. Most other books say brush your teeth or distract yourself. Or they don't deal with the issue. Hopefully i can try to stop the guilt that I associate with food. If I can do that then I am surely on a winner.

OK today was interesing, first day of Paul McKenna. You do feel a bit of a prat chewng every mouthful 20 times !! But it is amazing the fod really does taste better!!

I cannot be the only one who starts a eal and it tastes really really yummy, but then I start wolfing it down, feel full, but keep eating because it is on my plate and then actually feel sick once I've finished and not enjoying the last half of a meal. Hopefully this plan will teach me
a - to enjoy my food
b - to leave some on my plate
c - to serve smaller portions
d - to stop eating when I am full

I know I would lose weight if I could learn to do those thinngs, and also not to eat 'hidden' food in supermarket car parks There was me thinking I was the only one

Hiya - hope the Paul McKenna thing works out for you. I keep meaning to look into his ideas on weight loss. My problem is portion sizes. When we cook we eat probably two persons servings each lol not ideal really!!!!

Thing is if i dont eat a lot I'm constantly hungry and thinking about what i can eat next!!

crunchie · 22/04/2005 10:02

Yesterday was interesting, the first real day of Paul McKenna being tested.

I went to London and had a scone for breakfast - left some of it!! I was worried I might be hungry but I wrapped it up and took it with me 'Just in case' I binned it a couple of hours later

I had a great lunch and ate really really slowly - it tasted fantastic

Inthe evening I had a quick stir-fry before I went out - probabaly ate too fast, but didn't eat loads. Then there was a buffet where I went and I was peckish - so I had a small plateful and left some

Hopefully this should work in changeing my mindset, so watch this space

OK not a great w/e foodwise, but I was expecting it so I am not too disheartened

I did loads of gardening on Sunday - good exercise, so hopefully it should be OK. I have 5 weeks and 7lbs to lose before my holiday However since I am trying this Paul McKenna my goal is more to help myself control the food, rather than the other way round. I don't WANT to be thinking food al the time and ghave the 'good' 'bad' feelings. So onwards and upwards or whatever.

Hopefully as I am busy this week and DH isn't around in teh eves, I will be able to listen to the CD earlier in teh eveninga nd mnot fall asleep Maybe it will help more then!!

Stay tuned

Hey Crunchie - I've just read all of this thread for the first time, I'm inspired today and want to start being good.

Have you had more than one weigh in? how are you getting on towards your stone target and are you feeling better for it?

crunchie · 25/04/2005 10:26

Sorry yes I have lost 7lbs so far - which was the first goal I set myself. But after the w/e I had I am not going near the scales again for AT least another week
