JHKE - LOL at picking up poo aversion! We are rural, so don't often have to (tho' the minute I venture out without a bag, you can bet your life that's when I need one.)

Still no more weight loss, Will try smaller portions, but then I just get HUNGRY. Am now working again, so aqua aerobics has bit the dust. On the positive side, I'm not in the kitchen so often and if I don't take it into work for lunch, I can't eat it.

Davina McCall's Power of 3 this morning and a 30 minute jog. Lost 2.5lbs last week, must have been the Tae Bo.

Quick update after my initial post. I did join the gym and signed up for a year, rather than the 3 month option they offered. Friend and I have been a bit gung-ho about it and have been trying to get down there on a daily basis - haven't quite achieved that but have managed about 5 days out of 7.

Bad news is that, after 9 sessions at the gym, I'd lost the grand total of 1lb!! I'm hoping there's a delay factor and that the weight will suddenly start to disappear. I'm certainly feeling fitter and find that I'm getting to the "oh my goodness, I can't do this any more" stage a lot later in my workout. Bad weather has cut down the number of times I can walk DS3 to school (about an hour in total for me there and back), so it's important that I keep up the gym stuff.

I will have a review of my regime on 14th October and will see what improvement there has been then.

Freckle, it possibly is that you put on muscle and that is heavier then fat

I joined the UNi Gym yesterday and had a workout and will go tomorrow again

Next week I should be able to go 3 times if not 4, so, will see

Freckle · 01/10/2008 16:26

I could understand that if I'd been going for a long time, but I don't think I would have gained that much muscle in less than 2 weeks! The programme designed by the trainer is a weight loss programme, so hopefully it will start to show some results soon.

FairLadyRantALot · 01/10/2008 16:49

well....but if you haven't done much before, then 2 weeks could make a difference to how much muscle mass you have....if you know what I mean....
did you measure yourself...as that is a far better way to assess your success...

Muslce is good, though, because if you build muscle your metabolic rate will go up, as muscle needs more energy, so, even if you ar not moving you will burn more calories, off....

I am trying to cycle eight miles per day to and from work at the moment - any idea how much effect that might have.

However when the clocks go back might be more difficult - I do not cycle on roads but may need to see how it goes.

Feel much more alert on the days I cycle although have developed a rather worrying pain in my left elbow.

citylover · 01/10/2008 19:23

sorry that will be at least 3 and possibly four times per week.

Smalline · 01/10/2008 20:38

5 out of 7 days is very good Freckle, personally I wouldn't do any more than that as your body does need some rest days to recouperate.

Don't be disappointed about the weight loss, I totally agree with FairLady I'll bet that you will start noticing that your clothes are getting looser (that is if you don't already) as you are toning up your body and looking neater and slimmer

FairLadyRantALot · 01/10/2008 22:31

well...my plans on going to the gym tomorrow afternoon are out of the window ....we were told no lecture in the afternoon, but got e-mail that lecturer will be meeting us tomorrow...hohum....never mind....

will take gymkit anyway, incase it's a mistake

Freckle · 01/10/2008 22:56

I did get a bit despondent when I missed a day, but then realised that it was best anyway not to try to do too much at the beginning, because I'd have to maintain that level to avoid weight gain when I slacked off.

Having had a nasty cold over the weekend, I took advantage of that to sit around doing bugger all and recharge my batteries .

FairLadyRantALot · 01/10/2008 23:23

apparently you need to take a day out....if I got this correct, and I may have not as no expert, it eems to be best to do 3 days a week weighttraining on machines/with weights/or just some floor exercises as in situps...and always o abdominals, bar the 3'rd day, then instead of abs you train legs more...

the other 3 days you do some aerobic exercise, preferable in a interval training kind , and on the 3'rd day of that you will also do your abs exercises...

and then the 7th day is resting day...

this is what I sort of worked out by different material...however, if anyone has a ny knowledge or opinion, please share !
