8 week reset

hotelheartbreak · 30/09/2025 22:39

I’m not going to list all the excuses on here, but I’m roughly 8kg heavier than I’d like to be. I have 8 weeks between now and an event that I’d like to look my best for and reset my habits before summer. The penny drop moment for me was trying to find weight loss drugs online! Anyone like to join me for a pre Christmas reset?
I need a real shake up - so appreciate this might seem extreme!
1500-1800 cal
focus on whole foods
3-4L water
8 hours sleep
read before bed - no doom scrolling
3-4 days booze free a week (mandatory)
3 weights sessions a week
3 cardio & 2 runs
OR
3 runs & 2 cardio sessions
(disclaimer I’m used to a high level of exercise and even at my laziest was doing 3 as a minimum)
10,000 steps.

I’m currently on day 2 and need some online accountability buddies. Anyone got crazy goals they are chasing and want to join me?

Yes! I want to try to lose 10Kg by Christmas. DH is on WLI and the weight is falling off him, and I’m frankly jealous and inspired.
Realistically, any weight loss over 4kg would be amazing.

i like the sound of your regime. I’m going to try to follow it.

I have just lost 1st 10lbs in 15 weeks.

I did it by aiming for 1400 cals a day (some over, some under) and 10k steps a day. That’s it.

no need for the running and cardio, if you want to do formal exercise I suggest strength training over cardio.

good luck.

ICanSpellConfusionWithaK · 01/10/2025 08:06

Sorry just re read and saw you’re used to exercise. I read it first time thinking you were saying you don’t do exercise!

hotelheartbreak · 01/10/2025 08:57

I’m aiming to do 3x weights AND cardio / running. Roughly 6-7 sessions a day with 10,000 steps.

My skim reading really messed me up there. Sorry OP.

Harrysmummy246 · 01/10/2025 18:21

I'm aiming for 5 days booze free. 3-4 free means 3-4 with those unnecessary calories etc.

Without knowing your tdee (or height, weight, goal weight), we can't possibly know if that's a realistic deficit for you

ICanSpellConfusionWithaK · 01/10/2025 20:28

The thing people forget about alcohol is it’s not the calories themselves from having it (which is a lot), but your liver is so busy getting rid of it that your body literally shelves fat burning for 24hr or something like that. I don’t drink so I don’t know the details but I’ve seen the message repeated a lot. So you’re making your weight loss a lot harder by drinking alcohol.

worth looking into.

hotelheartbreak · 01/10/2025 23:05

So far I’ve enjoyed the reset - but I’ve been hungry!
Sunday - weights / booze / 9500 steps
Monday - cardio / no booze / 12,000 steps
Tuesday - weights / run / no booze / 13,000 steps
Wednesday - cardio / no booze / 12,500 steps
I’ve been listening to my body tho and eating when I’ve been hungry, so may need more calories!

Give your plan a go for two weeks to see if you have lost anything, but I suspect you will have to adjust your calories and restrict them in any way you like. It is predominantly the calories you ingest that will drive your weight loss.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/10/2025 20:48

I’ll join you! I exercise similar amounts to you (2/3 runs a week, 2 bootcamp, and a daily walk or 2 (3-5 miles) with the dog. My calorie goal is usually lower than yours but I never actually stick to it. My plan (from tomorrow ) is:

actually track my calories, every morsel that I eat for a whole week - this means using my scales and not eyeballing it as well
stick to average of 1500 but have more on some days and less on others (set this up on nutracheck)
definitely need to drink more water - 3 litres
No alcohol or gluten (both cause me no end of problems and I’ve had neither all of sept)
no weighing myself for at least a couple of weeks.
run and bootcamp x 2
do some stretching (find a ten minute stretch video)
get more sleep (I never get 8 hours but I’d really love it if I could get a consistent 7 plus an occasional nap)
take all my vitamins and supplements at the sane time each day- b12, magnesium, vit d, collagen in the morning, and iron spray at night.

bigdecisionstomake · 03/10/2025 16:17

Can I join you too please, your plan sounds very like mine:

Use Nutracheck to count calories aiming for a 500 deficit per day
3 strength sessions per week
1 yoga/pilates/stretching session per week
2 cardio sessions per week
4 alcohol free days per week
Minimum 2L of water per day
Minimise UPF and try to eat a big variety of fresh foods over the week
Focus on sleep more and try not to burn the candle at both ends

I work very long hours (self employed) so am easily de-railed and have also got some family issues going on at the moment that are time consuming so it is easy to make excuses for poor food choices and missing exercise. Hopefully joining a thread like this will keep me accountable.

I have just returned from 2 weeks on holiday and can tell from my clothes I am the heaviest I've been all year. I am going to start dialling back the bad holiday habits over the weekend and will start properly on Monday.

andrinaballerina · 08/10/2025 18:52

I am v similar and need to lose about 10kg. I am very active already but now need to focus on calories which is somewhere I traditionally fall down on. I think my weekend is going to be spend logging meals on MFP and trying to work out a strategy.
I already cook from scratch, which includes lunches for work, and think I have a balanced diet. I suspect it’s just too much!

andrinaballerina · 10/10/2025 13:55

Checking to see how everyone is doing? I haven’t started tracking calories yet (I really, really hate it…) but am down half a kilo from last week which I’m pleased with.

hotelheartbreak · 14/10/2025 10:45

I’m tired, grumpy but over a kg down! How is everyone going - my husband has joined me which is making it easier. First couple of weeks the sugar cravings were insane!!!
how is everyone else?
