Chub Club: Fighting Flab in Aisle Five

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 27/08/2025 14:18

Right then, here we go!
Me @Obsesetits are throwing ourselves headfirst into the salad aisle and starting the official Chub Club. Our mission: lose a stone at a time (3 in total for me), with full accountability, banter, and possibly tears when someone brings doughnuts into the house.

If you fancy joining us, here are the official Chub Club Rules:

  1. All meetings held in Aisle 5 — attendance compulsory unless hiding in the biscuit aisle.
  2. Confessions encouraged — especially snaccidents (e.g. finishing the kids’ leftovers “so they don’t go to waste”).
  3. Non-scale victories count double — zipping up old jeans = instant promotion to Salad General.
  4. Anyone bringing doughnuts to meetings will be banned (or eaten, not sure which yet).

This is a space for accountability, progress (big or small), and plenty of laughs — because if we can’t laugh while eating lettuce, what’s the point?

So… who’s in? Grab a trolley, confess your snaccidents, and let’s see how much chub we can shift together 💪🥦🍫

Looks like you have both disappeared! I will keep posting for my own accountability as I seem to do better when I do.

11st 8.25 today. Really please with this, I reckon 11.7 is well achievable! Im really hoping it carries on at this rate as I will be comfortably in the 10st club for Christmas!

Thank you so much!

Absolutely jump in, the more the merrier. What’s your starting/current weight snf next target? X

OP posts:
Iceisnice · 25/10/2025 12:52

Thank you!
My starting weight is 13st 10lb and just would like to get back down to 9 and a half stone. My next target would be to get into the 12s.

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 25/10/2025 16:21

I was 13 something in May. Took a break over the school holidays in the summer, September was rocky to start but I am back in the zone.

Not doing any exercise and I know I should but will power can only handle so much at a time, just making better choices and keeping track of calories, not necessarily restricting them, especially over the last few weekends, but it seems to be working for me. What’s your plan?

OP posts:
IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 25/10/2025 16:21

I do my targets at 1/4 of a stone at a time, feels quicker to reach a target then.

Sorry - I’ve not disappeared!! Was on the holiday I was supposed to lose weight for. Well. I did not!! Back today so I’m starting over again with sadly an increased start point. I think I need to go back strictly into Fast 800 because my next holiday is snowboarding which is unforgiving in weight terms as if I don’t shift a couple of stone my kit won’t fit 😩

so ladies I’m here for this now with renewed vigour…..

chalkyc2 · 26/10/2025 08:34

As of this morning I’m a full 89 horrible kg, after a lovely holiday but one where I definitely felt every extra kg as I sat by the pool. Hmmmmm. Realistically to get in my snowboard kit I need to be 15kg by Feb at least. 3 months. Not unthinkable?

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 26/10/2025 12:24

its annoying isn’t it, you lose weight for the holiday but instead of being happy with the progress you sit there and criticise until you’re miserable again!

I am in pounds and stone so just looked at where 15kg would take me, if I could math that I would be absolutely over the moon, I think I may jump on that with you.

OP posts:
chalkyc2 · 26/10/2025 13:20

Yes just over 2 stone. I think it’s possible but will take discipline!!

chalkyc2 · 26/10/2025 13:22

I’m starting today.

Basically - 3 meals a day, no booze no sugar reduce white carbs. No snacks. I have to allow myself tea and coffee or I’m completely miserable!

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 26/10/2025 16:31

What date in Feb? We go away in 159 days but I want to be at target (12kg) by Feb half term which is 16 weeks…

Alcohol is my big one as I like cider and Bailey’s 🙄, but I am hopeful I can get pretty close.

OP posts:
IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 26/10/2025 16:34

I am averaging over the week around 1200 cals a day. Don’t have bread anymore although had 2 sandwiches this weekend.

Christmas and New year will knock me back a bit but if I work really hard before hand and build a buffer, I should be ok.

How often do you weigh?

OP posts:
IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 26/10/2025 16:40

My lunches at work have become a cup of soup, babybel, 70/80 cal crisps and a tangerine. Sometimes a jelly pot or mini Turkish delight. Breakfast is usually a corn cake with some peanut butter and a banana.

Evening meals are meat, veg and whole grain rice or mash. The mash is frozen so I count the prices to make sure I am using the correct portion size. Usually fruit and yogurt after.

No sugar in my tea, I do really need to drink more water though.

I think I will drop either the banana or peanut butter in the morning and have one or the other, just to save a handful of calories.

chalkyc2 · 26/10/2025 22:09

You sound very disciplined! I weigh every morning - have done for the last 2 years. I make myself face it and it’s kind of fascinating (horrifying?!) how much it can vary.

Yes we go away at half term. God - 16 weeks so really need a kg a week. Ok that focus’ the mind somewhat. Today as start again day 1 has been ok.

chalkyc2 · 26/10/2025 22:11

my general plan is - Greek yogurt based smoothie for breakfast (from fast 800 website/book), made ahead soup for lunch (have some lentil dhal with spinach for tomorrow) and some sort of protein and veg for dinner. Ugh. It’s so dull but so necessary!

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 26/10/2025 23:53

This is the first time ever I have been able ti stick it at it. I think 1kg a week is going to be tough going but at 800 you should smash it!

I weigh daily too, so now that I know Im talking to myself I’ll check in more frequently 😂.

Are you doing any exercise?

OP posts:
chalkyc2 · 27/10/2025 06:35

I have a peloton bike so try and do that 3 times a week. I used to run but have a dodgy hip that I need to get sorted. Exercise is my downfall really - what with work and sporty teens who need constant ferrying about it’s at the back of the queue…

CanYouHereMeRoar · 27/10/2025 07:35

Can I join? Late 20s, I am 5ft6 and about 72kg, and I want to lose about 5kg (babyweight). Breakfast is ceral with low fat yogurt. DH is vegan, family dinners are vegan, they are quite healthy but it can be carb central at times. Also, I really need to eat better lunches, I cant be arsed to cook meat for one person, so I buy my lunch - its often toasties with fries, BLTs, subway, loaded fries with fried chicken etc. Its also wasteful spending...

I am fairly disciplined in eating sugary foods in moderation though as I had all sorts of dental problems as a teenager so I was warned off sugar at a young age. One biscuit at work, and then a small pudding after my dinner.

Between old sports injuries and having a baby my fitness level is rock bottom. Just signed up for Les Mills + for home exercise, just to start improving my cardiovascular fitness and hopefully help me tone up a bit. I dont have the commitment to pay for a gym membership and I cant run due to injuries, nor can I ride a bike that well. The goal is to start playing hockey again.

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 27/10/2025 07:59

@chalkyc2 I would love some kind of bike or treadmill but I just don’t have the space. Keep hinting at a walking pad but the idea of having to get it out and put it away when I want to use it means it probably won’t get used, storage isn’t something we have much if either!

@CanYouHereMeRoar of course you can join us! Im off work this week so plan on doing some dance workouts. I like Grow with Jo on YouTube, haven’t managed to complete one yet though!

OP posts:
chalkyc2 · 28/10/2025 10:29

I feel like the peloton has been a total life saver over the last 5 years - it’s £40 per month subscription and the whole family can use it. It’s in our kitchen/diner and doesn’t really fit but just about is ok!

Day 3 and holding strong!

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 28/10/2025 22:31

We crumbled last night and had a takeaway. Daughter has £10 a month just eat credits with her bank account and didn’t want to waste them 😬.

Today was around 850 cals though to pull something back from yesterday, but I did end the night with a hot chocolate. I’ll aim for around the same for the rest of the week.

I need to double check what chicken calories should be as I worry I am underestimating as I feel pretty stuffed!

OP posts:
IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 28/10/2025 22:35

I wish I’d have weighed the chicken breast now… anyway let’s assume under 1000is safe!

OP posts:
chalkyc2 · 29/10/2025 06:45

Ah the odd takeaway is fine!

Im terrible at counting calories! This possibly is my massive downfall, but I just find it so off putting when I cook to weigh and measure stuff. I like using recipes which have an approximate calorie count with them though. Maybe I need to start to care more but it’s one of those things that I can never see myself doing long term.

CanYouHereMeRoar · 29/10/2025 08:01

I also showed a moment of weakness and had a toastie with fries for lunch.

But I have done 15 minuets of exercise 3x nights in a row. Cant do anymore without risking injury (already had a few niggles), and quite frankly I feel out of breath anyway.
