Greek yoghurt tips please to make it more palatable?

I really want to eat good quality natural Greek yoghurt for its health benefits but I really dislike the taste!

Tbh, I am not good with diary products generally!

Are there any ways of eating it to make it taste better please? I don’t even much like the texture! But the taste is the most difficult aspect for me; I thought I would get used to it but no improvement after a month of eating just a little nearly every day.

Walnuts and honey on top - I can’t eat it any other way, these change the taste quite a bit x

I usually stir in 'munchy' ( brand name) seeds and maple syrup.
Would that work?

Octavia64 · 19/07/2025 13:11

Fruit.

I eat it over cherries

Pomer0l · 19/07/2025 13:12

Defrosted blueberries

Cyclingforcake · 19/07/2025 13:12

Why? If you don’t like it don’t eat it. It doesn’t have any significant health benefits that make it worth choking down.

Coffeeandcrochet · 19/07/2025 13:13

A sprinkle of cinnamon takes away the tang.

littlecottonbud · 19/07/2025 13:25

I use a vanilla ice cream protein powder, and mix a scoop into my greek yoghurt - tastes like thick ice cream.

iamnotalemon · 19/07/2025 13:26

I have to add sweetener to take away the tartness which I’m sure some would frown upon and I usually have it with fruit.

pecanpiee · 19/07/2025 13:27

Try the Fage brand, also I agree with honey and/or walnuts

Newgirls · 19/07/2025 13:28

I like the M&S one with vanilla in it

tempted to try the vanilla protein powder above

TheCurious0range · 19/07/2025 13:28

Have you tried the danone skyr instead? It's still quite high in protein but it's smoother and not as acidic as Greek yogurt, I have it with berries for breakfast

Lots of answers! Thank you!

Definitely going to try the nuts/seeds honey/maple syrup suggestions; thanks very much!

I’ve tried it with fruit and to my mind it intensifies the acidic tang. But I know lots of people love it with berries. I will have a go with cinnamon but not sure about that flavour combo! Will try anything once though! Thank you!

Try a different brand. They don't all taste the same. Lidl's Greek yoghurt is their biggest seller so a lot of people obviously find that palatable, may be worth a try.

Yes I have tried it and I still don’t like it very much I’m afraid!

Thanks for this tip! Will have a go!

And I will try the Fage one too!

Lancashire farm is very thick with the least yogurty taste of any I’ve tried. Really recommend it. I do like Greek yogurt, but not all brands, eg I’m not a big fan of Fage. You might need to try some different ones.

Oh thank you! Haven’t heard of this. Sounds promising.

What particular health benefits do you think yoghurt has?
it's high in protein but so are lots of other things. It has some live cultures but again you can get them from other food or supplements. I'm not sure why anyone trying to lose weight would waste their food allowance on something they don't like?

BlueRidgeMountain · 19/07/2025 13:33

Lidl Greek yoghurt is nice with some berries, a bit of granola and honey on top.

TyneTeas · 19/07/2025 13:34

What about savoury like tzatziki?

SkiAndTravelTheWorldWithMyDog · 19/07/2025 13:34

Sunflower seeds for texture and a little bit of local honey for sweetness.

deckchaironnabeach · 19/07/2025 13:34

Options hot chocolate sachet.

i’m eating it for the probiotics; trying to improve my gut health. Plus it’s so convenient for breakfast and I am trying to persuade other family members to eat it.

Good suggestion but sorry; I can eat it very occasionally but have to force it down!

Does anyone know if the probiotic/gut benefits are killed off if you freeze it?
