Gosh, is it like Adipose, as featured on Dr Who? Does the fat literally walk away?!

Legacy · 11/05/2008 23:02

Hi Dior
It's the pill + the diet that makes it work.

Having a lower fat diet will limit the 'leakage' problem.

Have you signed up to the telephone support programme? My friend who was taking Xenical said that they were fab (nurses & dieticians I think?) and really helped her get through the first few weeks.

hello dior, i have been prescribed this but it's sitting in the medicine cabinet as i haven't quite worked up the courage to take it yet . i talked it through quite extensively with my gp who reckoned it was the most effective weight loss drug. i do, obviously, want to lose weight. but really don't fancy the side effects. aaargh, what to do???? i was talking to the (lovely) practice nurse about it, & she said you can simply stop taking it at any point. heeeeeeeelp!

Sorry, I meant to say, I think the combination of the pill + diet helps you loose a lot of weight quite quickly, and then the good habits you develop help you keep it off.

I used it a couple of years ago, but not much success. I didn't have too much problem from the bottom area (!) just every now and again, but then my diet wasn't all that fatty. Having said that i didn't find them successful and that was another diet thing i gave up on!
Good luck to you all though, hope it works for you.

i got the impression that if things were going to go straight through you (ewwwwwwwwwwww -- i am much too squeamish ), it would be fairly rapidly. so you may well have got away with the spinach & ricotta.... oh god, should i start taking it?

you are doing brilliantly dior .

pucca · 12/05/2008 17:36

Dior...Was it difficult to get your GP to agree to giving you this?

tullytwo · 12/05/2008 17:37

Do you mind if I ask how much weight you have to lose? And how do you get to take this pill?

I only ask as I have 10 stone to shift and PCOS which makes it harder and wondered if this might help me along the way

nikkid21 · 12/05/2008 19:29

tullytwo - I don't have any experience of slimming tablets but do have pcos. I've lost 2 stone on slimming world since september. Another women sufferer in my group has lost 6 stone with another 3/4 stone to go. The unlimited low gi carbs on the green plan of slimming world seem to work.

Sorry to hijak the thread

The problem with a 'low-fat diet' is that it can be extremely high in calories, right? Sugar, pasta, potatoes, even lean meats, fruit, etc. You could eat a ton on xenical with no ill effects...
