Well done on the pound @Thewhisperingwindsofwinter!

I've been weighing myself every day and every day I am heavier! Overall I am a whole 1kg up this week. I suspect it's just where I am in my cycle, maybe I'm retaining water. I did eat and drink a bit more for a few days a couple of weeks ago so it's also possible that's showing up now, though I don't think I deserve a whole kilo.

I'm at the end of the first week of daily yoga and feeling pretty good. I ran yesterday too and am going to try to get out tomorrow, I think not running makes a big difference to how I feel. I'm out for dinner with friends tonight but am driving so will be on the fizzy water and I'll try not to eat too much.

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 07/02/2025 19:39

Thank you @Swearwolf sounds like you are doing great with the running and yoga. Sorry to read about the 1kg it's probably your cycle or water retention maybe? I know what you mean about running, I find walking keeps the stress cut down and helps clear my mind.

Enjoy your meal out tonight. I had a chippy for dinner tonight, I just get a kids portion when we get takeaways they are still filling. It's made me realise that when I was getting a adult size I was eating past being full.

Just to be clear, while I run 3/4 times a week, I'm not a natural and I'm not fast. I tend to do 5k in half an hour or around 7-8km at the weekend. It's about going regularly for me, as soon as I dip down I start to feel rubbish.

I don't think the exercise in itself makes me thinner, but it helps me sleep and makes me feel healthier, and I naturally want more healthy food and less junk when I'm exercising more. I don't know if anyone else is the same.

Hope the chips were what you were hoping for @Thewhisperingwindsofwinter. My curry was good but I'm happy to go a while before I have another one now. Which definitely feels like progress!

Greendiamondbee · 23/02/2025 10:53

Hoping I'm back on the wagon now. I have a tendency to see the scale drop and become complacent. Weighing in at 9.1 this morning 🥳. I'd like to drop to 8.10, that's my sweet spot. My clothes will fit and I'll be comfortable. Waking an hour a day during the week and running round after the children all weekend. Looking to cut some treats out for Lent too.

Beesandblubberies · 23/02/2025 20:20

Hi everyone, im relatively new to mn and im hoping to lose some weight! Gained 4kg over being with my family in the USA from thanksgiving to mid January 😅im still losing that. Trying to slim down just generally. Trying to do swimming and walking as some excersise this week!

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 24/02/2025 15:23

@Greendiamondbee are you finding because you don't have much to lose its coming off slower? Also how are we nearly at lent 😱

@Beesandblubberies welcome to our little group and mumsnet. Good luck with your swimming and walking this week. I enjoy both of these find them really relaxing.

I am getting no where fast with weight loss 😫 the scales just aren't moving. To top it off this week I am 4 pounds up, I am really bloated with water retention honestly I look like a solid ball! Still doing ok ish with the food I refuse to give up my weekend take away and a few drinks because life is for living not being miserable 🙃 I've not done any exercise in the past week need to get back into that. The weather's just been miserable to get out walking and works been busy Iam the Queen of excuses dd wants us to join the local club where there's swimming, gym, hot tub, sauna and steam room. Think we are planning on joining this week maybe if I am paying a monthly fee for it it will make me go?

My Nutracheck subscription ended and they didn't offer me a good deal to sign back up so using mynetdiary finding it ok to use so far and it's free.

Does anyone take anything for the monthly bloat that you would recommend? Honestly it's horrible my skin is all tight my fingers are massive 😢

Hope you are all getting on well. I've been batch cooking today made spaghetti bolognese, mince and leek and potato soup.

Yes it's always much trickier..I remember after having babies and stopping breastfeeding it melted away. So close, now regretting my decision 😅

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 24/02/2025 16:08

Funny you should say that. I was thinking this morning when I had both of my dc days after the birth I lost so much weight and looked fabulous, I was glowing and my hair, skin etc looked amazing. Maybe it was hormones/adrenaline/stress?

I mentioned that once on a thread here and got absolutely flamed 🔥🤣

Sending you some Flowers it's so bloody frustrating isn't it 😕 hope you are ok. Is there anything you would do differently going into a fresh week?

OP posts:
Beesandblubberies · 24/02/2025 19:16

i didn’t do much excercise I guess so I am trying to do more. most of my weight has collected around my waist and im trying to lose that. Hoping to cook some meals that are healthy in the week and definitely cut down on sugary foods.

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 25/02/2025 11:34

@Beesandblubberies sounds like a sensible plan. Good luck !

Yesterday I had
Potato and leek soup for lunch
A apple for a snack
Bolognese with lettuce and cucumber for dinner.
5 Crackers with cucumber, lettuce, cheese 10g and colslaw 10g before bed
3 squares of Cadbury caramel
Drinks were water and coffee

I am praying 🙏 for at least a pound off this week!

That sounds yummy @Thewhisperingwindsofwinter

Greendiamondbee · 25/02/2025 18:58

First day back in the office this year and managed 12.8k steps, lunch was chicken breast, cucumber, cottage cheese with onion and chive, boiled egg. Grapes and a cheese string for snacks 🤤

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 25/02/2025 21:37

@Greendiamondbee you have had a busy day. Well done on the step count that's a lot!

Not keen on cheese strings or cottage cheese. Saying that I've not had them for over 20 years. Any you can recommend? Love a babybel though Grin

OP posts:
Greendiamondbee · 28/02/2025 15:24

@Thewhisperingwindsofwinter well now, I've never met a cheese I didn't like!. Dairylea do a version you could try and perhaps cheese strings have improved?, It's a handy little snack to have along with some grapes!

Weighed early this week, 8.13 this morning ✅. Getting there slowly but surely.

Have a great weekend.

YourFairCyanReader · 28/02/2025 16:41

I've been reading through the thread and it's been really helpful to see what others are doing. I've realised the weight has crept on and my clothes don't fit any more. I just love food so much :-(
I've done a fruit and veg shop and ready to prep soups and healthy meals for the coming week.

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 28/02/2025 19:36

@Greendiamondbee will pick up some cheese strings and give them a try. You are doing great!
Have a lovely weekend

@YourFairCyanReader glad you have found the threads useful. Getting a shop with all the bits you need is a good start. I love food too so I've done the whole add food in. Like less high calories stuff and more salad or veg. Keeps me full.

Well I've put one pound on this week. Honestly this is driving me nuts now, sticking to calories, getting out walking and put on. Hopefully this week when the bloatings away I will drop a pound. Peri menopause is a nightmare 😫

Well, I took my measurements yesterday for the first of the month - I decided to do it a month apart to see whether I was building muscle. I am EXACTLY the same (and 0.5kg heavier)!

Weirdly, I feel slimmer around my face and shoulders, less around my stomach. I managed all but three days of my daily yoga thing, now Feb has ended I'll be back to a couple of times a week and running more.

I know what's happened, I've been snacking more and drinking more alcohol. I need to cut it out and get sensible again! Hoping the nice weather will help get me out of my rut.

On the cheese talk, cheese strings don't taste of anything!!! Don't waste good calories on bad cheese guys!

YourFairCyanReader · 02/03/2025 08:04

Nutracheck - can anyone advise? I'm currently on the trial but I gather I'll lose a lot of functionality when it runs out.
Is there anything I should do before then e.g. set-up my regular meals so I can add them?
Is it necessary to pay subscription?

Thanks!

I would say a subscription is better because you can add in more food (think the free version is only 5 entries a day) sure it also gives you more access to different features also.

I didn't do anything on the free trail except use it as normal. When I then paid for the subscription everything stayed the same, all the data I had put in etc.

Thinking about joining Nutracheck again as I have high suspicions that mynetdiary isn't correct on the calories 🤔 I am not finding it as good as Nutracheck.

Not been great over the past few days. Had a blow out with food and wine. Not counted calories or done any exercise. My aim for this week is no booze until Saturday and to do at least two hours of exercise.

OP posts:
YourFairCyanReader · 04/03/2025 20:30

@Thewhisperingwindsofwinter I am only doing well at the moment because I (unlike me) just don't fancy a glass of wine at the moment. As soon as I have an evening with wine, I think my blood sugars will be all over the place, I'll end up eating lots of the wrong things on the night and the next day .....

Thanks for the info on nutri app

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 04/03/2025 20:38

@YourFairCyanReader oh I know what you mean. When I drink wine, I am like a ferret on crack in the kitchen. Then the next day I eat rubbish and it usually ends with a takeaway. I've not had any wine since Sunday and went out a walk today, hope it continues 🙃

OP posts:
Swearwolf · 05/03/2025 08:31

Oh I'm exactly the same, drinking changes everything for me!

Thewhisperingwindsofwinter · 06/03/2025 22:19

How is everyone getting on this week?

I've managed two big walks. Still had no booze since Sunday and done ok ish with food. Sadly the scales haven't budged again this week 😞

My trust in mynetdiary has went, so I signed back up with Nutracheck for a year today. Have a pretty busy weekend ahead will try and do as much damage limitation as possible 🤞
